I made this film a few years ago and it's sad to say but not much difference has been made as far as the violence. I was hoping when I made this film some folks would wake up. It's unfortunate that it continues to persist, the cops keep screwing up investigations, folks keep killing each other over petty issues. When and where will it stop idk? I am going to revisit this issue again in a few years and see what has happened I hate to think negative but I don't think much will have changed...
I would hope more light would be shown on the gang violence aspect. When the gangs started growing again, the violence increased. At last report there are 86 different gangs roaming the Rochester and surrounding areas. Random killing is not why the murder rate in Rochester has soared. Retaliations by gang members is. Until people defy the gangs and start reporting their involvement in these crimes, you will never stop the violence. Unfortunately, the innocent are always caught in the crossfire.
Its sad that so many are lost to violence and little is done about it, those that could have a deeper impact such as: clergy, politicans, community groups, social organizations, etc.
This film keeps the issue of violence in our communities in the forefront and hopefully inspires and demands that more needs to be done to out an end to the madness.
