  • Beautiful aquarium! I have a 29 gallon with three goldfish in it, and some day I will need to upgrade. Right now, the goldfish are happy, and all of the chemistry is kept in check.

  • beutiful!!

  • It is a good fish tank, with a nice decorations, nice arrangement of plants, and healthy fishes. The house looks fantastic. Well done.

  • ...and are very fun to watch. sorry im a bit long-winded. :)

  • hi-havent read through all the comments so maybe you found a solution to your algae problems.

i had the same prob-i woke up one day and it seemed it had grown over night. i would scrub it but it would return the next day, so i went to petsmart and asked one of the ladies there and she suggested i get a "Mystery snail" or apple snail.

it works wonderfully!! although since you have a 45gal you may need 3-5 (mines only a 16gal)

but try the mystery snails they clear the algae well and...

  • @Mamboleo1995 Thank you for the info! Unfortunately, I have not had luck with snails. However, I have changed this tank from goldfish to tropical and there is no algae problem now! Yea :) I will have to post a new vid of the new tank...

  • @lacey41908 oh okay good to hear! yeah you should, tropical fishtanks are so beautiful!

  • @lacey41908 try a bristlenose , they love algae

  • not sure if you tried this already but try not to use the tank light as much. i also had excessive algae so i moved the tank into a room that gets natural light. i turn the fish tank light on maybe for 2-3 hours a day at the most and noticed that the algae problem went away.

  • @juicebag83 Thank you for your comment. Since this video, I have changed this tank to tropical, also only have the light on for about 3 hours a day, and have not had any algae problems, yea!

  • Its nice to see someone on youtube housing there fish in a big enough tank :)

  • @jamielongmusic seriously!!

  • PRETTY!

  • nice to see such happy fish.

  • Maybe you ought to change water weekly...I do it in my three goldfish tanks...hell a lot of work but rewarding when u see how happy and healthy the goldfish are. Algae growth also depends on the lighting.....do u leave your lights on the whole day and night? Algae tend to grow with lots of light. Does algae grow on the plkants or on the glass? Use a magnet cleaner which will remove the algae growth on the tank.

  • @CharmySi Thank you so much for your tips. I was so tired of trying everything to keep the algae down, that I transferred the goldfish to my pond in July - they are so much more happy there, I can tell ;) - and changed this tank to a tropical tank! Threw everything out and started over a few months ago. No algae problems and the tropical fish are doing really great! Will post a video of the new tank soon :)

  • @lacey41908 I am glad that your goldfish are happier in the pond....the only disadvantage is you have to go outside to watch them and cannot enjoy while being in the house.

Usually it is advisable not to keep fancy goldfish together with Comets (your shubunkin) because the fancy ones are much slower and are disadvantaged when searching for food.

I do not have a video of my fish on you tube, but you can see them on facebook in one of my albums.(look for "Simon Pelster") are you on facebook?

  • i just can add to the many compliments u have received for your tank: stunningly beautiful, not overcrowded and the cute little house with the turning wheel adds some playfulness to it.....makes it look like a fairy tale world....great!!!

  • I like the decor

  • I have a 29 gallon that is fine for right now. My fish are very happy, but in the future, I will need to upgrade to a larger one.

  • What a pretty little aquarium! Good job!

  • how old is your red cap oranda?

  • Your aquarium is very nice. Compliments. You can see my aquaium in "Acquario pesci tropicali - VINCENZO IANNI". Ciao. Vincenzo.

  • Your aquarium is my favorite.Very nice.Very quite little house,I wish to have one too, where you purchase???

    Thank you.

  • Oh, and name of the song please?

  • Everything about this tank is awsome!!!

  • i have 1 oranda and 3 ryukin in a 10 gallon tank is that too much?

  • very nice!

  • dude algae doesnt hurt your fish or water just the apperance

  • if its an algie problem, have you checked your posphate levels?

  • No I haven't lately. That is a good point. Thanks!

  • Are those real plants?

  • At the time this video was taken, there was only one live plant. The rest are silk plants and one plastic one.

  • very nice tank

  • 5 goldfish in a 10 g tank? Each goldfish needs at least 10 gallon. Get a bigger tank ASAP. Otherwise, I'm afraid that your fish won't live long.

  • Love the setup!!! I have a 10 gallon goldfish tank with 1 oranda, 2 fantails, 1 calico shubunkin, 1 black moor, and 1 algae eater is that to much they seem to be fine to me just wante d to ask. and i love aquariums they're so peaceful and relaxing

  • Thank you! Your tank looks great, nice and clean. I think that the amount of fish that you have is fine. Keep up the good work!

  • the videos i have are old three have those fish have passed away

  • OMG what a awesome tank...I love that setup and your fish are so heathly. My favorite is your calico ryunkin. Are those silk plants in the back right of the tank?

  • Wow, thank you! Yes, they are silk plants in the back right of the tank. Fortunately, the fish are still healthy, but the algae if back. Always comes and goes. This tank does not look as nice now as it did in this video :-(

  • swim bladder disease is cause for overfeeding your fish, best advice stop feeding for a couple of days, feed them twice or once a day

  • Thanks for the comment! I have been using floating pellet food and only feeding once a day. Have not had any other fish with swim bladder since...

  • i have a 20 gallon tank..i have 2 small fantails and 3 small common goldfish is that too much?

  • Oh, I think that the amount of fish that you have is fine. Usually, the rule is one inch of fish to one gallon of water :-)

  • Red Cap Orandas are my favorite gold fish I had one with swim bladder disease so it just floated everywhere but it was still a great fish. Nice tank.

  • Yes, mine too! Swim bladder disease seems to be a common problem. Fortunately, the fish do seem to hang in there for quite some time ;-)

  • Sweet tank. I really like Red Cap Orandas, they are my favorite fish.

  • Well, thank you! I love the Red Caps also :)

  • swim blatte disease mine had it to but it died from it

  • i use to have a fantail that would swim

    belly up why is that?

  • I also had a fantail that used to do this. I believe it is called swim bladder disease and unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done for this. You can google it for more info =D

  • The day i can make my tank look like urs is the day ill be a happy person ... AWESOME STUFF MAN AND GREAT IMAGINATION 10/10

  • Hey, thanks a lot! But, the tank has not looked quite this good since I posted this video. Figures, right?

  • great layout, have you ever tried growing real plants for it??

Some nice fish too dude, i have a regular Chinese Algae Eater, aggressive fella!

  • Hey, thanks! I did try one real plant, just to start, but the fish would not leave it alone. I will have to try again with more next time. I'm sure that could help the algae problem. My golden Algae Eater isn't too aggressive, but that will probably change as he gets bigger...

  • are you sure its not good algae?

  • Thats really relaxing to watch. Im sure your cat loves it. Even your dog, too!!

  • Yes, it sure is relaxing. Lexi the cat loves to watch the fish. She seems to notice them more than Lacey does =D

  • Really cool tank, I'm thinking of setting up a tank like this.

  • Thank you! I would love to see a vid of your new tank =D

  • cool fish

  • Thanks very much!

  • nice tank dude

  • Hey, thank you!

  • u can buy apple snails to eat up the algae

  • Thank you for the suggestion! I will add some to my tank.

  • I wish I had the money for a 45 gallon! Amazing tank!

  • Thank you :) I have to admit that it can be a lot of work. I think that my 1900 gallon pond is a lot easier to take care of, believe it or not!

  • Hey, the algae problem may be due to a filter that is old and is not doing it's job or a filter that is too small for the amount of water. If the filter does not do the biological function as well such as with carbon that could cause algae. Also when you change the water try and do an aquarium vacuum of the gravel and take out the decorations and let them soak in salt or bleach but make sure they are rinsed extremely well.

  • Hi...my water is always crystal clear, but the decorations are now coated with a lot of algae. I do vacuum the gravel with water changes, but I can't reach all areas. I'm sure that is part of the problem. I have a Rena Filstar XP2 that is for aquariums up to 75 gallons and I have 2 biofilters also. So, I am always stumped about the darn algae problem. The room that the tank is located in receives bright light (not direct sunlight), maybe that is also the problem?

  • What a beautiful aquarium. I love this song too! Red Hot Chili Peppers, right?

  • Thanks so much! Yes, The song is "Californication" by RHCP.
