  • Hi! I have a horse by El Rey Rojo too! I just added a video of him! I think they look alike!! Tuco is a very nice horse! I loved your video!

  • Thank You!

Went and checked the pedigrees and Tuco and his little brother 'Rojo' (he's got a vid here too) are definitely related to El Rey Rojo. My 'Rojo' is "El Rey Luna Rojo'. The colts sire is El Rey Roan and El Rey Rojo is 'Roans' grand sire. So you have our Uncle or something like that. LOL

I'll check your channel for your video. What's your 'El Rey' horses name?

Thanks for watching and for the nice comment. :~)

  • God must be such a joy doing work like that. I couldnt do it emotionally though i helped people with training and breaking before and always get so sad when the horses leave after training. Thats why i couldnt imagine training them on my own like that. Hes a lovely horse though. And those foal pictures were adorable i have to say im jelouse of you having a round pen.

  • Hi Gitte! This one is my 'baby horse' he'll never leave me, could never sell him. I love him to pieces. :~)

You can make a square pen a round pen by putting poles thru the corners. It'll work just as well. Small square pens are good for first rides, if the horse gets snorty you can let em run up in the corners to stop them easier that way.

You ARE a trainer now Gitte, on your own, Lady is depending on YOU to help her find the way. You CAN do it. You will do it for Lady.

    It's in your heart!

  • Im glad atleast one person has that belief in me thanks. Because i dont. Its nice you were able to keep him i think i asked before but how many horses do you own and ride.

  • Gitte every time you handle Lady you ARE training her. You have a young lovely mare and your hands are full. You and me are trainers by default. We bought young horses and some one has GOT to do this for them. They won't get better on their own we must help them find the way. 8 horses here, 7 raised from FOALS. Can't afford fancy trainers so that leaves me to figure it out. Takes courage and determination but with every accomplishment your confidence improves.

Take small steps on the journey.

  • Well i could never do what you do though. Ive helpted out with people training and breaking them and ive handled younger horses even had a few to help out whom had some issues like beeing scared and bucking and so on. But nothing comes close to what the real horsepeople like you do. Not to mention havnt ridden properly in years. Kind of lose the feeling for it all i think its rather sad.

  • LOL! You ARE a 'real horsepeople' Gitte. Look at ALL you do for Lady, take care of her, feed her, worry for her, groom her, ride her, love her. That's a 'horsepeople'. :~)

Better riding does come with practice. I've seen your early vids tho. You are a lovely rider! Don't be hard on yourself because you have to build a relationship with a new horse. Lady is hotter to handle that's all. Don't give up and ride her when ever you're able to. You'll get your form back and your saddle confidence too.

  • Wich clips did you see if i may ask. The only footage i have of riding my gelding was after i hadnt ridden in like three years infact in that time i barly ever saw a horse up close. Because of this my posture was afull i like tripled in weight and couldnt even do any of my excercises properly anymore. And anything i have of riding lady was again after not beeing in the saddle for years and only a little walk and trot every few months for a few minutes i wasnt focusing on my position then iether.

  • I think they may have been photos... but then again it seems like they were video clips. It was awhile ago Gitte, but you were on a beautiful bay in an indoor arena, riding a Dressage saddle I think. You did look younger and 'lighter' if you know what I mean. Your hair was very long and you had that SMILE on your face. Thinking you were still 'back home'. Any way, you subscribed to me when I first got on Youtube and that video made me subscribe to you. I've enjoyed the Lady Saga.

    :~)

  • Thats my gelding. I had to leave him behind when i moved over here. I dint ride for three years like i said then went home for a visit. Thats when i rode him for a few minutes and was taped its the only footage i have of him. I tripled in weight by then and as i said had an awfull position and couldnt do my excercises anymore but thats naturally after not riding for so long. Came back home waited like half a year or so and bought lady. Ive actually lost weight since then to. But thank you.

  • The weight gain was no doubt just a phase in your life. Now that you've got Lady and you're busy again with a horse the weight will come back off quickly. You'll be back in your fighting weight and good condition before you know it. Keep playing with your mare! LOL!

    You're a sweet girl Gitte. :~)

  • I doubt that. But thank you for the confidence and the support means alot to me. Perhaps if i was able to start riding again regularly that may help but since that isnt possible for me with lady yet who knows whatll happen right.

  • Very nice video, and nice horse. The only thing I would say is that it is a lot easier to "ride safe" if you wear a helmet! Serious head injuries can occur on even the safest horses under the safest conditions. I saw one very safe horse go down head over heels and land on top of the rider AT THE WALK IN A RIDING RING. Just tripped for some reason we could not figure out. Rider is permanently brain damaged. Something to think about!

  • Hi, "gryphon". Thanks!

Did buy a helmet and protective vest... check out the "Riding Little D" video.

After watching a good friend come off at an easy rolling buck and break two ribs, I said, 'that's it', and bought the gear.

Now comes the training myself to get in the habit of using the gear all the time. Not so easy when you get older, but since I'm getting used to the feel of it all, I find I actually LIKE wearing it.

Lot of green horses here & anything to help the odds is good by me.

  • Good for you, gal. It is definitely hard to change when you're not a kid anymore, but well worth it. I've cracked two helmets in my day -- one on a tree branch on a runaway in the forest, and one hitting a jump pole. Hate to think of what would have happened to my brain had I not been wearing one. I feel positively naked on a horse without a helmet, but I grew up jumping and it was always part of the scene. Not so easy for those who grew up Western!

  • Isn't that the truth. :~)

Been better about remembering to use the helmet than the vest... but soon I hope it's like my riding gloves. Feels strange to touch the reins without gloves. Like 'what's missing here'?

Gotta say, all my Western friends haven't made a single wise remark about the helmet. So maybe setting an example, or just too old to take a bite out of. Hahaha!

Have FUN with your horses and RIDE SAFE out there!

  • Great video, haven't seen one like this on youtube. Love his name too, he's quite a looker!

  • Thanks 'Max'. Checked your channel... seem like a pretty cool person. You left out the classic Pontiac Firebirds & Trans Ams. LOL!

Appreciate the nice comments. Big fan of the Leone Spaghetti Westerns, hence the name 'Tuco' and it suits that horse to a 'T'.

Good luck in your Veterinary career.

Have FUN with your horses. :~)

  • You were very lucky, i didnt have a round pen to start my colt in! lol, :) But he was a quick learner and now that he is almost 3 and i trust him on a ride more than my 5 and 20 year old. Good luck with him and keep up the good work!

  • Wouldn't have to be a 'round pen', any smaller area would do. But I guess you figured that out, huh? :~)

Isn't it FUN to be out there with those colts and say, "I did this. This one's all me."

I take pride in that, Good, Bad, or Ugly... yup... this one's ALL ME.

    Good luck with YOUR COLT!

Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. :~)

  • Yea i had a small (very small) square ring--but it wasnt very conveniant at the time. Yes i love taking the pride and saying that my colt's progress and knowledge was my doing. Even if he did something bad or incorrect i could blame it on myself, lol. Thanks and good luck w/ yours.

  • its funny cause im finishin breaking my green horse she is 2 1/2 and she is half mustang its so fun just to get out there and try and dont worry bout gettin bucked off or anything just go and have fun

  • It's about FUN with horses. Serious business starting colts but FUN. Tuco's got me twice & once he fell. But he's never left me even on the trail. I've hit the dirt & he didn't go far waited for me to get back up. Just ONE of the things I LOVE about Tuco. Not his fault sometimes I can't ride! :~)

  • P.S. No one can give U courage or confidence. It comes from experience. Don't over face urself or ur horse. Keep at it! A little at a time & the mountains become mole hills. Be smart & RIDE SAFE! Good luck with ur filly!

  • hey your horse is beautiful! and i just wanted to let you know that my horse is by El Rey Roan too! His registered name is El Reys Bud and we call him Buddy!

  • Well what do ya know! COOL!

We also have Tuco's full blood brother here, 'Rojo'. Rojo has a vid on YT also. Rojo looks a LOT like El Rey Roan (but he's a sorrel).

Small world. Hope ur likin' 'Buddy' as much as I'm likin' Tuco & Rojo. They have both been very special colts. Great minds on the bubbas. :~)

  • I like your horse's name. :)

  • We like YOUR NAME too! Hehehehe! :~)

  • A credit to you ! Lovely calm, confident yet biddable and eager to please...a delightful horse and a lovely partnership you have there. Congratulations

  • Thank You, 'Kate'. Tuco's just a 'baby horse' mentally. It's okay, we have plenty of time to figure things out. He's very loyal and tries to give me his best. I love my little bay horse and I think he likes me too. :~)

  • Awesome horse. :)

  • Hi, 'Dys'.

Thanks! Tuco and I have learned a LOT from each other. He's my best pal. :~)

  • That's my mom. :)
