  • thanks. He looks so young and skinny...

  • does anyone know what year this was recorded?

  • @sparkyjaf My guess is 1981

  • A genius...

  • Amazing talent

    This is just great

  • When I was young,I loved Eric Clapton.

    Still do,actually,

But this man is a better guitar player, singer and writer.

No Question. The fact that he still has to work to make a living, means that he will eventually leave a greater body of work as well.

  • @neohip Well, he's certainly not bad off...

  • There's nobody that I can think of that is so accomplished on the acoustic and the electric guitar. But ultimately his lyrics are his strongest suit.

  • how can there be tabs for this? no one can duplicate it!

  • has anyone got the chords for this version

  • Check out Petty Booka's version of this..

  • Is that petty or Betty?

  • I don't even know what to say about this performance. Thank you so much for the post....this is RT at his finest. He is such a conflicted perfromer and this shows his talent to the pinnacle.

  • wow, this is almost better than the original, he's pretty fucking amazing even without linda thompson

  • Amazing, have not seen RT in these videos.

    Joni, you are the BEST!

    Along with Richard!!!!

  • He looks like he's in a wee little church for some reason...

  • it wood be the stained glass

  • Johnny Borrel. What a twat. But Maximo Park: they're good, you should check em out. I love Richard Thompson and others in his vein (lets be honest, there aren't many!) but you should be patient with Maximo Park, I wouldnt want you to miss out. Razorlight on the other hand can burn as far as I'm concerned. That we definitely agreee on ;)

  • @yaisum

What about Frank Zappa, Allan Holdsworth and Steve Hackett? Those guys are right up their with RT in guitar playing. RT's vocals are top notch!

  • I've no argument there mate. Though I would say this: I cannot get into Zappa or Holdsworth. They are Extraordinary musicians, and their knowledge and technique are gobsmacking. But it is too far out for me. I'm prepared to admit that my musical brain is too simple for their work. Like much jazz music, it is too far removed from 'pop' music for me to enjoy. What about you? Do you play too?

  • I agree. The complexity of their music is what I like, but pop isn't too bad. There's some good stuff. I used to play bass, but thanks to that, got into a lot of music.

  • I like the guys you listed, but I wouldn't put anyone in the same ballfield with RT.

  • The best performance I have seen of this classic, bringing out the true artistry of this guitar master...
