@FITBIKECO94 Fenders are freaking awesome. Jimi Hendrix, Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, and John Mayer, to name a few, all play fender strats. They're amazing guitars, just different than humbucker guitars.
I really dislike Emg's they sound to sterile to me. Dimarzio is the best to me dactivator are very high output sound great and are passive. Would rather have that than an emg anyday
I've owned this guitar for the last 2 years. I'm not sure that new pickup will sound like but the current pickups are not very good. the E and A cords do not sound good when they are played separately. a power cord sound find. but when you separate them the quality goes down the tubes. I'm ordering a semore duncan sh 2 and sh4. I'm sure it'll do this entry level guitar just fine.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Though I would say, do what I did and put some new pickups in it. But get some passive ones so you don't lose the 5-way versatility, one of the major drawbacks of EMGs (who've only recently started doing coil-tappable versions of the 81.etc)
i bought this guitar and changed the pickups for emg 60/81, with this pickup you will change all the electronics (not the switch) and this is a useful upgrade, sorry for bad english im french
imo, this is a great guitar already, i tried it in one of the guitar shops, and it feels and sounds great.but if you would like to make some changes, start with the tuners first, then the pick ups, etc.. buy the dimarzio tone zone for the bridge, and a PAF Pro on the neck, if you want great pick ups.
the finish is great man..it's weathered black, looks cool..you don't have to change em, unless you really want to.
locking sperzel tuners, depending on if u want the better ones or not (ive found there is VERY little difference between the two besides the look) will be around $80. Or the cheaper ones (which i have used on many of my guitars) will be about $50-55 depending on who you buy them from, i would buy them off of musicains friend. now i havent used the dimarzio D activators before, but i kno they are $50-120 depending on what you want (with pickups i reccomend u get the best you can get).
ok dude do you want a awsome sounding guitar ? I would put sperzel locking tuners and dimarzio D activators on it,it will sound like a prestige guitar
not that much work really, but i'm sure there are guitars which are more difficult to modify. i know a guy where i live who puts double locking systems on all manner of gibsons and fenders.
I have the same exact model except mine is the one with the weathered black finish and its a mahagony wood. Personally i would suggest a custom pickguard, a mirrored one should look good. Change those saddles to graphtech stringsavers and the nut to graphite nut, some better locking tuners on those, and up to you to choose a pair of pickups. I would go for a Seymour Jazz for the neck and sh4 for the bridge.
Im not sure if those RG550 pickguard would fit on the rg321. Maybe you can try searching on ebay? I remembered seeing someone customizing a pickguard. Mine was customised by a local luthier in singapore.I'll try to get a pic uploaded. =)
would you recommend it? cuz im on a budget abd its between that and the Ibanez GRG170DX. the only difference is that this one is mahogany, the other is basswood and has a tremolo.
to be honest this is the best guitar ive ever had, the sound on it is second to none really, the strings also are real easy to slide and bend etc dunno what brand they are.
the problem with the trem is they are so much hassle to instal and maintain, i bend on this all the time and have only had to retune the top e string once.
the only reason i want to modify this is so is a one off nothing to do with performance really.
if you need any more advice about this let me know.
there is a slightly cheaper model with a trem on it, was about 30 pound less than this one, but was advised that unless you would use alot then its more hassle than its worth
Search for some respected music stores in your country, try google. About the fret buzz i have the same problem, maybe your action is too low, raise it up a bit, and check your truss rod. I don´t know what do you mean with floating strings. Hope that helps.
i have that same guitar but with mahogany oil finish, i´m planning to cut the lower horn in a smooth way to have more comfort when doing big stretches.I have read that the dimarzio steve special and the air norton pick ups sound great on mahogany guitars, you should give them a try. You can change the tuners for some sperzel or gotoh and you can change the bridge and get the frets professionally done, but then you should buy another guitar ;). Just experiment with new pick ups.

Well all i can say is that you can change the pick ups to EMG 81 and EMG 85 if u want but they will cost allot. And why do u wanna change the look of it? Its a sweet looking guitar. I am also buying this guitar in three days.
