We had to sing this at school, and I was the Geography teacher!!! I have to say "Welcome to Geography, my name is Ms. Wolfe, Today we will be learning about the Fifty States. (5th grade): Yaaayyy, Me: "Now class, I heard that you can say all the fifty states. There is an extra recess for you if you can sing all the fifty states. But do it Alphabeticly." Then when they go into the part where the go, " when I sat down all out of breath, the teacher said, "and I say "thats great!"

Does this person, as well as the rest of you in the US, not know that there are three states bordered that rhyme? They are North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. I am Canadian and I figured that out. Learn some Canadian Geography, too. We only have 10 provinces and 3 territories -- they are easier to learn.

This song is from a choral musical called Liberty: A Musical Celebration of Freedom from around 1986. I had the whole thing on cassette back in the 80s & taught myself this song just from listening to it over and over! I think the musical was done around in 86 or 87 about the time of the 200th anniversary of the Constitution.
