it is certainly playable and generally a good move, however I presume Kasparov did not like whites pressure after 30. ...Rxc4 31. Rxh7+ Kxh7 32. Qd3+ Kh8 33. Qh3 Bh4 34. Bxc4 and white has regained the pawn
Rybka - the strongest (or one of the strongest) chess engine in the world. in other words, a computer program (of super-grandmaster strength); very useful for analyzing games
Move 40,please.let's see some of karpov's games from 70's.Karpov was very great at that time.I heard people say Kasparov stated that thinking about taking up the challenge,Fischer looked at Karpov's games and got scared.
In the final position you could also point out that if instead of pxq white plays q-b7+ then the simple bishop retreat to e7 is also mate.

@ 7:41, what is the problem with white Qe1?
savit 1 year ago
When Rook why not pawn g3? is it a forced mate after that?

Could the white pawn be taken with the black rook at 4:44 since the bishop is pinned to the queen?

why not take the bishop?
chrism216 2 years ago
@chrism216: if he took the bishop he loses the queen by g5+, Kg5 then Qh6+, Kf5 Rf8, then wins the queen the next move

I love your vids.
I especially love it when you say "believe it or not" or when a move is "controversial."

JackBauerRulez2008 2 years ago
Kasparov gave up the h7 pawn with an enemy rook on the open file opposite his exposed king? And it worked! Incredible.

At 4.44 is it possible for black to play Rxc4?

Maybe Fischer didn't want to play officially anymore because of players like Kasparov.

Remarkable Tightrope walking by Kasparov. Any lesser player would have been smashed.
