It's working out so well isn't it? No? Oh well, why not get government to do even more things that government isn't supposed to to. That'll do the trick.
i find it rather a good idea. i think it was president hoover who messed up by not acting fast enough and putting us into the Great depression. and now obama noticed that mistake and is doing something to try and keep history from repeating itself..... Theres something i bet most people who are against obamas plan didnt know.....
"We won't simply throw money at our problems, we'll invest in what works", hey, I'm not going to burn my house down, I'm just going to set it on fire.
Federal Reserve isn't the problem... it can be part of the solution. It is the regulator, under the direction of and at behest of all three branches of the Federal government, the banking and finance industry of the United States. It regulates the money supply, and sets government-to-bank interest rates, and sets cash reserve requirements of those banks.
The folks who blame the FRB for the effects of the big Wall Street banks' "getting around" the FRB, don't know what they're talking about.
Over in Iran their leader is teaching his people how America's monetary policy and central bank will cause hyperinflation and depression. I wish he were wrong but I fear the worst!
Printing more money from thin air can never fix anything. I recommend doing a youtube search for congressman Ron Paul, perhaps you will gain some much needed knowledge.
Focus on the railroad system, not building more useless infrastructure... Good luck with all these outlandish plans. This is no recovery plan, it's a Greater Depression plan. Good luck.
NOOOOOOO, wheres the change? Bush has been bailing and stimulating the us for the past 4 months and we are so much better off?!?! On the flip side atleast he is stating what he wants to do for once.
I don't know enough about the banking system to know if this will work. I know one thing, when congress borrows money it comes from a collection of banks but we are told the banks are all in trouble? Also that America is already hugely in debt, borrowing more to help the economy?
Good luck Obama you got your work cut out. About time some one had a sustainable energy vision though.
Alas he has yet to condemn the killing of innocents in Gaza.
The money has to come from either the Fed, or foreign countries. The Fed is privately owned and operated, and can basically print money on demand. This much borrowing is only likely to create hyperinflation, which is the last thing we need. What the government should be doing is cutting spending and concentrating on cutting marginal tax rates as well as capital gains taxes to encourage investment.
Also, Hamas had been firing rockets at Israel for months. Shouldn't he condemn that?
Any violence should be condemned, however 1300 Palestinian deaths, 13 Israeli deaths numbers peak for themselves. I do not condone Hama's actions for they refuse to except that Israel should even exist. However Ben Gurion's expansionist approach to the wars with the Arab countries within the region has had a long lasting legacy.
Imagine your father, mother brothers been blown up, it will make you hate. That hatred leads to terrorism, bombing + missile attacks.
but back to the money, isn't the Federal reserve, I am not American and don't know your system, formed of private banks? It is a secret conglomeration of large bank organisations? Is that right? So you are borrowing form the banks to give to the banks? All very strange. The economics of a perpetual growing economy cant work, some one should be brave enough to change it. In fact it will be a happy day when money does not exist.
Yeah, that's pretty much correct, but it's only 12 banks, all led by the same board of people. The Federal Reserve doesn't have the the problems other banks have because all banks and the government borrow their money from the Fed, since the Fed has the power to print all the money and regulate all other banks. It's a very problematic system.
I don't mind money, since it facilitates the trading and barter process. I'm guessing you're referring more to the utopian ideals there, though.
my freind, the fed doesn't even have to print the many anymore, these days they just enter numbers into a computer program and money just appears on a screen we are screwed i'm afraid
This bi-partisan idea sounds good in theory, but I haven't seen one republican yet since Obamas been in office that isn't ready to totally take that man down. They don't even make any sense anymore and I'm totally scared their going to "suck him in" with their rubbish. They don't lose gracefully, and they have no honor, or humanity. How can you not be on the side of somebody who cares about us? That and they keep pissing off other leaders in other countries. (this was actually a footnote)
and.... I LIKE WIND TURBINES, AND SOLOR PANELS. That should have been done yesterday. I see that! This country is going to look so cool, if people do it and stop talking about it. The clock is ticking. The man should folow his own path. There;s always going to be somebody who wants to rain on his parade. You give money to a company, make them accoutable for every penny, and check the progress. Honest people can't be that hard to find. They need jobs to. AND>>>
One glitch. I know Obama is adament about kids going to college, which is excellent, but if their using their college money to but food or cover their auto payments, because they can't find a job, then they're going to go into debt with their tuitions and still not get their education. I'm more into creating jobs. I see parents getting their kids to go to college just to get the money to support the family. The kids are going to owe a loan, and still not get an education. JOBS FIRST.
You make a good point, but have you heard the explanation that if you begin to educate the future adults now, the jobs will follow as the world becomes a better balanced economy where Americans can compete with the other countries on a level playing field. America is behind in education reinforcement to our future My understanding is college loans are flexible.. Create the job by developing a new or improved product. That comes from the engineers and peoples needs. That begins with education.

Haha... save us $2 billion a year by spending $800 billion? Ok, I'll thank you in 400 years.

ehhhh.. save 2 bilion by spending 800 million, not 800 billion.

$800 billion is the total cost of the entire stimulus package, which is what I was referring to.

a good plan, with flexibility to respond and change where it doesn't work, but I expect the Republicans will work to take it down.
