  • Would not trade Loretta for all them "shiney painted suckers" at the other nights cma awards show!

  • now thats country.

  • Her beauty, her talent, her fame, and the age of this footage make this one of my all-time videos. Thank you, Gatorrock787.

  • Loretta is real Country. Everything nowadays is glorified American Idol gloss. Loretta is class and country, from the real roots. Culture matters! Great music is always born from culture.

  • @BimLanders Couldn't agree more. As a Country, Classic Rock, R&B, Soul and even old school Hip-Hop fan, I can say that the best music I've heard comes from artists who are true to their roots. That's where the soul is.

  • WOW! This is the first time that I've seen this video. This song, Success, was Loretta's first top ten single. Her first release, Honky Tonk GIrl, was her first hit that peaked at #14! The rest fifty years plus have made her career and name an icon status and one of Country Music's front runners.

  • Wow! Loretta's voice always make me melt.

  • loretta you looked great evon tho you had no make up on. to me you never needed make up. your voice was great back then and it still is.

  • Loretta has never had cheek implants...she's never needed 'em.

  • Loretta wrote that she tried to sing this song with a "full" voice, like her friend Patsy Cline :) A date on this would be nice.

  • ...soon after this Loretta had braces on her teeth and possibly cheek implants ?

  • That's back when Doolitlle wouldn't let her wear any make up. Great song!!!

  • this is nice

  • back when the opry was grand.

  • what a great post........a legend on its way.

  • Hurray Loretta! I used to listen to her when I was in Vietnam in 1967 to 1969. Had her albums and a old record player. Loved her then and nothing has changed!

  • OK I WILL SAY THIS LORETTA HAS ONLY HAD WORK DONE ON HER TEETH SHE HER SELF TOLD ME, HER TEETH HURT HER SO BAD SHE HAD WORK DONE YES... DONT TALK BAD ABOUT THE QUEEN OF COUNTRY THANK GOD SHE IS STILL HERE WITH US AND STILL SINGING!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MrLorettafan I bet she's a very down to earth and wonderful person. I was told this by someone else who was invited to dinner at her house! He said she is very funny and witty and loves to talk about many things, especially Kentucky and life in Butcher Holler.

  • I wish she would have left her nose alone and not had plastic surgery on it. I like her natural look the best.

  • @blueberries4ever....I don't think Loretta had plastic surgery on her nose. If she did, I never heard about it. All I ever heard about her having done was dental work.

  • @MI6A4PRO She wrote about her plastic surgery in her second autobio "Still Woman Enough."

  • ...very early 60's...before cheek implants and braces for dental work later..she was headed for stardom.!

  • She is about 19 here. Already had four children and wore no make-up. Just a complete natural country girl.

  • @Sheteck1 No she isn't 19 here hun... She was more like 26 but YES a complete natural country girl!! Such a huge natural talent! Not like these two-a-penny tart dime-a-dozen girl singers today!! No one will EVERY compare to the one and only Queen of Country Music Loretta Lynn!! And of course this was years before Tammy and Dolly (love them too)...

  • The Queen of them all.

  • THIS is country music! Loretta could sing the phone book if she wanted to.Taylor Swift & all you so called "country" artists, take some lessons from the masters!

  • @Donkey9900 SO TRUE!!!

  • Loretta was still (basically) a little girl here. She had kids by now, but her look was still evolving. Who knew she would turn out to be so beautiful? :)

  • @nicoleakalilqueenie I couldn't agree with you more.

  • THE QUEEN!!

  • Kinda strange. It always seems like loretta is in a hurry to leave the stage. Hm. But still shes amazing

  • @rocketrodlover I've been to several shows and these days she finishes her signature song, she hands the mic to a band member, blows a couple kisses and she's gone! Such a great talent should stick around and absorb some of the love and admiration the fans are giving.

  • @LittleSonOfa Just be thankful Loretta still Tours. She could retire and have money for herself and her kids to do them all 3 life times. So stop complaining.

  • @MrRickycurry My comment is more of a compliment than a complaint.

  • she looks like Sissy Spacek. This must have been when her husband Dolittle wouldn't let her wear make up.

  • she looks like Sissy Spacek

  • Awesome with country Class ! Thanks to the Wilburn Brothers, Don Helms and Ernest Tubb we have enjoyed close to fifty years of Loretta.

  • @1950F8 Loretta signed her very first recording contract with Zero Records on Feb 1, 1960, so 2010 was her 50th year since she started recording. :-)

  • The 'Porter Wagoner Show' was the genesis that propelled many to superstardom! Loretta Lynn certainly was one of those legends to be !!

  • The best thats ever been. The Queen Loretta Lynn. I Love You Loretta All 50 Years Honey.

  • I believe that this song was from Loretta's first LP titled "Loretta Sings" and it also went #1 for her. Back then she was known as "The Decca Doll" before she released Coal Miner's Daughter and acquired a new nickname.

    Long live the Queen Loretta!

  • Isn't it interesting how shy Loretta was back then? Notice how she kept trying to walk off the stage, but Porter took her hand and pulled her back on? Love it, and love her.

  • How cool is this clip? I'm guessing from season 1 of the Porter Wagoner Show. Chattanooga Medicine Co. (Black Draught, Cardui, Soltice) chose Porter over the Wilburn Brothers, for the syndicated country music show, but Teddy and Doyle got their own show a season later, with a cast including Loretta, Don Helms, and comic/banjoist Harold Morrison.

  • Wow....this clip is awesome. Never seen this before. The earliest I have and which I believe is the earliest clip is one of Loretta singing, "Whispering Sea".

  • @ILikeEmCountry Thanks for the clip!

  • WOW!!GREAT EARLY VIDEO OF LORETTA...THANKS!!

  • Wow Loretta looks so pretty

  • wow great thanks for sharing very very rare since Loretta was not able to be o any other show when she signed with the Wilburn Brother show. must be around1962-63

  • TY For Posting This....There's NO Better Then Loretta Lynn....

  • This is awesome!!!

  • Wow! Thanks for posting!!

  • Wow!! That was Loretta when she first started on the road to becoming a legend!! And I remember those days!! Thank for sharing this one!!---Lee

  • This footage is before she was a regular guest on The Wilburn Brothers show who also helped Loretta get signed to Decca with Owen Bradley as her producer. She left Norm Burley & Don Grashey from the Zero label who first heard this early star out on the west coast in Canada. In early booking contracts Loretta's performances of this time she would be paid a small amount of money compaired to the gals today. The "QUEEN OF COUNTRY MUSIC" worked hard & these gals wish they'd have a career like hers.

  • You can tell she was more shy back then. But she still became one of The Best Female Singers In Country Music. And in the 1960's and 1970's Loretta was The Greatest Thing To Happen To The Entire Music Businness As A Whole. Love You Loretta All 50 Years Of You.

  • Porter is speaking with T. Tommy Cutrer & the song "Success" was written by Johnny Mullins. This is NOT the earliest black & white footage I've seen of Loretta however these are closest camera close ups I've ever seen making these performances extra special. Using a few angel shots from different cameras really is a first for Loretta as we see here. An earlier black & white performance is "Gonna Pack My Troubles' then "The Girl That I Am Now" then this footage then "Everybody Somebodies Fool"

  • Aww, you can tell she was more shy back then.

  • A very happy time in Loretta's early start becoming a member of the opry which Otte Divine would present her with that award. Then only Loretta's lyrics on "Get Set For A Heartache" would really be meant for herself because around this time she would lose "THE CLINE" miss Patsy Cline her best friend in an accident. What a gal Loretta is NOT ONLY would she play guitar but she'd write many of her songs, perform AWESOME vocals why she'd even make that pretty dress with beading & lace all by herself

  • very nice cilp Al Loretta just turned 76 Let's hope there's many more

  • @mrblindfreddy9999 Agreed!

  • @mrblindfreddy9999

Actually I believe that Loretta is only 75 as of April 14. This living legend is celebrating her 50Th Anniversary in show business, and still tours like she has been for the past 40 years!

  • @mrblindfreddy9999 SHE IS 75 SHE WILL BE 76 APRIL 14TH 2011, SHE WAS BORN 1935

  • @mrblindfreddy9999 Loretta's birthday is April 14, 1935 (not 1934 like so many think) so that made her 75 in 2010. She'll be 76 this year, April 14, 2011. :-)

  • This performance is from 1962 or early 1963. Thanks for posting a great Loretta Lynn clip from the beginning of her career and the rest is history. This is her 50th year in the business making her a living legend.
