  • yo people in back ground stop walking around and pay this man deat shut up stop talking and let the music take you to the sky love the music rob

  • man i love your music, really beautiful work man, you have inspired me to play stick, so how is the stick tuned? what kind of amp does it use? and what kind of strings uses? i am a 6 string bass player and i do lot of tapping, so maybe i have some edge, well again your music is great!

  • @yogsothoth2099 thanks very much.... check out the FAQ on my website where I talk about stuff like this, also the stickist forum is a great resource for information

  • Sounds great Rob, but I feel that it would sound even better if you had a full band playing along and throw in some vocals.

  • Great job Rob. Does it not bother you to have all the background noise or are you able to tune it out ?? Thanks for putting this up beautiful work.

  • @bc78260 thanks- I've played enough open mics and bar gigs to be used to background talking for the most part. Sometimes gigs where everyone is silent and listening intently is distracting in a different way! Also the audio with this camera mic is a bit deceptive- it picks up sound in all directions and there was an outdoor food tent off to the side where everyone was eating lunch, while people listening to the music were closer to the stage.

  • if musicians like andy mckee and such can show their talents on youtube and recieve millions of views i don't see why your video's seem so underated

one of the best musicians on youtube by far

  • I'd like to know which exact model you are playing if you don't mind, Rob. This is a very nice video as well!

  • Hey Rob! Great tune. I love your composition style. It really is different in many ways, and its great to hear it being done on the Stick. Best wishes and luck in the future. Thanks for adding such variety to our world and comunity... :-)

    Take care!

  • @JaphletBA Thanks very much Japhlet! You are quite a creative Stick player yourself so your comment is very much appreciated!

  • What amazes me is how you can remember such a long song without vocal reminders. Really Great. Bought your CD- Mesmerizing Thanks-Australia

  • I wish you would come to the New York area.

  • @FluffyBunniesOnFire I am playing in Kendall Park NJ on Aug 22 if that is relatively close?

  • people are not even listening in a strange way it makes me feel better about folks not listening when i play im not of this caliber no way near this man is a genius thanks and i was listening and watching but couldnt steel anything

  • dude your so amazing bro... if i sub will u sub back? mssage back.

  • This is great!! can't wait to see you live in concert.

  • So beautiful. Congratulations :)

  • @derfelcadarn000 thanks - I am working on a CD now, and have some demo mp3s on my website (see my profile page for the link)

  • That's so cool.

I am consumed by envy ay yr dexterity.

  • Dude, you think Phideaux will be out there again next year??? I need to see them live.

  • 3RP won't be happening as a two day fest due to finances next year, but Phideaux was great and I bet they'll get another invite by another prog fest within the next few years.

  • Really great. You have a unique approach to the instrument.I hate it when stickists try to sound like a guitar and bass, you make it sound like a stick.Very inspiring

  • you are fuuucking awsome, where do you get one of those things??

  • @ryder6stringbaby Go to the Stick Enterprises website.

    stick (dot) com

  • do you play bass as well?

  • yes I did play some bass before focusing on the Stick.

  • It's always nice to see and hear poeple who can handle a Chapman stick.

  • Man this is awesome.

  • Very nice! I am dying to play one of these. Sounds great.

  • Great playing. It's unfortunate that any public event suffers from the one consistent problem - the public.

  • Truly Excellent!

A few passages brought Michael Hedges to mind!

Nothing at all wrong with that!

    As for the talkers...their loss!

  • bellissimo...bravo OK!!!

  • If I had been there, I'd probably be telling all the people to shut up and listen to this beautiful music... why do people always treat instrumental stuff as background music?! Just because it doesn't have vocals doesn't mean you aren't required to pay attention to fully appreciate it...

  • @BrighamHB because for some reason people have it in their head that music isn't music unless it has vocals. That's why people associate bands with the lead singer rather than the band as a whole. In this case, the people standing around talking are probably going "when is the song going to start?" Me on the other hand, a lot of my favorite songs are instrumentals. Singers usually ruin it!

  • @disposablehero85 Yeah, the fixation on vocals is very remarkable, just watch any videoclip of a band and notice how little you see of the guitarists, or drummers, bassists are even the biggest suckers there, you probably get to see them maybe once or twice! The singer usually "hogs" about 80 % of the video.

Anyway, nice job, Rob. You should know: you're friggin' awesome! I couldn't play the stick, I remember the first time I played a 7-string: full-blown panic attack!! too much strings!!! ;-)

  • Excellent! Bravo!

  • great work as always!

  • Incredulable!!!!

  • Just amazing

  • you're using slapping techniques on the stick?! way to go! never thought of that, but aren't the stings kinda hart to hit? if i remember correctly the stings on a stick are closer together than on a normal bass guitar, right? how do you do it? anyway, nice work rob :)

  • Thanks - I'm usually just hitting a pair of strings on a harmonic with my right thumb (the left hand is holding down the notes). Just hitting those highest two bass strings isn't very hard actually.

  • AMAZING!

  • That arpeggio strum sounding technique is awesome. I cant get enough of your videos man. Keep em' coming!!!

  • Great job Rob

  • wow... that was way to speacy man ^__^.
