If you read the Hindu scriptures, they all state that a man's "caste" is based on his karma (work/ethic), just as it is today. All castes were praised for their accomplishments (look into the story of Valmiki). Future circumstances and political agendas led to the warping of the scriptures for the benefit of the few...

Also, I said "Indian culture" is an umbrella term for the background of Jainism, Sikhism, Buddhism, etc. Lastly, I'm in the midst of western culture and believe me, there are riots/protests/opposition here (as is found everywhere).

If you read the Hindu scriptures, they all state that a man's "caste" is based on his karma (work/ethic), just as it is today. "Casteism" lies solely in the cultural realm; if you look at the quotas offered by the Indian government for education/occupation, you'll see that there are solid efforts for affirmative action and little influence of caste. Just because a person from the Kshatriya caste gets married within his caste doesn't mean the caste system is alive and well and flourishing throughout India. It's purely cultural now; actual class will change monetarily.

On the same website, you'll see that they have data for India's increasing Human Development Index, which is based on level of income, overall health, and education opportunities.
