Actually the song is called "Lauliku lapsepõli" ("Singer's childhood") and was composed by the famous Estonian composer Veljo Tormis. The lyrics however are taken from Estonian folklore.
@dengie75 someone in the comments has given an alternative name and cd where this piece can be found, I got it from the soundtrack for the game Dark Ages of Camelot.
Hi can anyone please send me this song ? I did not found it on the internet and its just beautiful...please if yes write me and i will give you my mail
Would love to see a tribute with 13th warrior, Highlander(original), Conan, Lord of the Rings, and Chronicles of Narnia! To KISS's soundtrack The Elder!!! That would be EPIC!! Can anyone do that?!
The music in this video is called The Skald and it's performed by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, I found the piece on The Dark Ages of Camelot Soundtrack.
If you're talking about the actual soundtrack for the movie itself though, not sure if there was ever one released if so, I haven't seen it.

Awesome Epic adventure totally enjoyed The 13th Warrior when it first hit the big screen back in August 1999, I believe. Now it's the 10th Anniversary celebration for the "amazing & bold" The 13TH WARRIOR movie which is a pearl-ruby masterpiece of brave Nordic Viking men & bold traveler that goes w/them to save a small villiage from being destroyed. Great storyline & magnificent acting throughout! Happy 10th Anniversary to the great Cast members & Crew of The 13th Warrior.
do you know guys that the character of ahmad ibn fadlan is not fictitious .
the real character is called Ahmad ibn Fadlan was a 10th century Arab Muslim writer and traveler who wrote an account of his travels as a member of an embassy of the Abbasid Caliph of Baghdad to the king of the Volga Bulgars.
do you know guys that the character of ahmad ibn fahlan is not fictitious .
the real character is called Ahmad ibn Fadlan was a 10th century Arab Muslim writer and traveler who wrote an account of his travels as a member of an embassy of the Abbasid Caliph of Baghdad to the king of the Volga Bulgars.
Give it a try :) it's pretty good, if you like to read I'd definitely recommend the book, it's by Michael Crichton and it's called 'The Eaters of the Dead' it's a very different kind of book.
Pardon my ignorance as I've not seen this film but I am curious if anyone who's seen it knows who the people are who are wearing the bear skins/heads and bull's horns and attacking on horseback. See 1:56.
In the movie they call them the Vendo (that's pretty close anyway) The book the movie is based on hints that they are the last remnants of cro-magnan man.
Its a shame that we are not taught more of the history. The most I got was the mythology and some I found on my own after being inspired to find out what forged the stories. I enjoyed the commaraderie (sp?) and enjoyment of now with a hearty laugh from the movie. Not popular views seen in other films.
They gave us Dublin, Derby, Nottingham and several other cities now famous for other things. They gave the Western Isles a language (Norn) that died out only in the eighteenth century. They founded Normandy and thus took over England twice, as well as all the other things the Normans did.
@claidhnean Correction, we never died out, we successfully bred ourselves into the fabric of this planet, Norman influence is found in almost all things of modern life, from the most widespread language, english to the days of the week, lol, NORSE BLOOD NEVER DIES,
Discovery on the New World, largest cosmopolitan trade organization in the medieval time. Harald Hardraada future King of Norway took Jerusalem with out fire nor sword 100 years before the first crusade and secured the pilgrim roads, made the safe. Don't forget longest surviving parliamentary government. The Althyng of Iceland uninterrupted for almsot 1100 years
Nope, what an elite minority (a few hudnred scholars) of muslims did during a few hundred years, and did well, was to summon knowledge from greek, roman, persian, indian sources and translate it into arabic and hence revive it.
The song is called Lauliku Lapsepõli (The Singer's Childhood) sung by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and comes from an album called "Litany to Thunder" by the Estonian composer Veljo Tormis
I would realy like it if they make a pure viking movie. How tough there life realy was. And how there extreme good tactics crushed evry opponent. I am a norvegian, so I realy liked this movie. Lenge leve vikingene :)
Yes it's 'The 13th Warrior' based very loosely on a book called 'The Eaters of the Dead' I think by Michael Crichton if I remember correctly. It starred Antonio Banderas.
Kildy is correct about the book. It is an excellent movie with humor as well as fantastic music. Good fight scenes. My kids introduced me to it and I watched it 20 times in about a week....and I don't watch much tv. It is still enjoyable to put on. Antonio is in it as the hero but the rest of his group are just as good.

The best viking-movie I`ve seen. I like Panderas, but this film would`ve been great without him too. He just makes it even better. ;)

what a movie, an arab saves some barbarians and educates them in the process.
arakl14 4 years ago
I think it's kind of the other way around in this movie. He goes to them and they save him, helping him become a man instead of a pampered courtier.
kildy 4 years ago
Hehe. From my pow you are both right.
I love the movie but it is not a true portrait of the Viking culture. But then, why should it be?
(In many ways the Vikings where way tougher than this movie suggest)
