@yumeybaconcutout : Thanks for the kind words.. It is much appreciated.. but, please don't do that headbanging again or I would never forgive myself posting this video .. :) btw, do you play this piece as well ?... it's a beautiful music .. thanks again for stopping by and dropped me the message .. Have a great day ! .. All the best, IP
Must say well done sir i too have been working on this peice just over a year and am mere months from having it memorized , my girlfriend told me i wasnt the only hard core nerd out there and i could find another who knows good music. not the first time she has turned out to be right . i must say hours a day in the mind of back can drive men mad. again good form sir please check my rendition when i have the balls to post it congratulations sir
Hi clang440, Thank you for the kind words. I studied this piece when I was in College during the first year. I guess it took me about 3 months to be able playing with proper speed, and then it took another year to smoothen out the difficult passages. I have to say it is still the most challanging piece for me.
@beedeetripo : Hi Bram !.. Thanks for the kind words.!!.. Wow, how's Holland today ?.. cold huh ?... Haha .. Here in New York, we just had blizzard.. the snow storm.. I'm glad you liked my rendition, hope you enjoy the Fugue as much as I do.. All the Best! IP
Hi, fella. I am once again awed by your performance of the fugue and also the sound of your Hippner. After just talking to a mutual friend about eventially, possibly getting a Bouchet or Bernabe Hippner, after hear this video, I would certainly consider a Hauser model as well. Perhaps the other two tend to be a bit louder, but the way the polyphony stands out here reallly sells me.
Hi Neil !.. Thanks for the kind words !.. I'm glad you liked my performance & the sound of my Hippner. It is much appreciated. I wish you all the best with your Hippner too ! .. I hope we can get together someday ! .. All the Best! IP
Hi, thanks for your kind words. Unfortunately, I could not tell you where you could get the sheet music as this is just my own version of Fugue, i tried my own fingerings, harmonization etc. I know it is still way far from perfect, but at least it did work pretty well with both my right & left hand fingers. thanks again for listening . .. Cheers!
Thank you for your comments on the Hippner an LaCroix guitars. Did you try these guitars before purchase, or was your guitar made by contacting the builder(s)? I live in CA which makes it difficult to travel and meet the builder directly.
I really enjoy your musicianship. I am looking to purchase a higher end classical guitar and Hippner's guitars seem like a great deal for the quality of work. I recall you were playing another guitar from a builder in Vermont? which I liked the tone a lot. I can't remember the luthier's name. Are you happy with your Hippner guitars? How do they compare to the other luthier?
Haha !! .. a friend of mine owns a Gernot Wagner too. It is 2001, i believe.
but this one is not. it is a 2001 Darren Hippner guitar. i guess, you don't have to spend over $ 15,000 and travel to germany to get a sound like this, you can get it here in the states. there's so many great luthiers here in the U.S .. Haha .. Thanks anyway for the comments, all my best to you !
I also like your recording quality, it looks and sounds very professional. I would like to improve the quality of youtube videos as we will all enjoy them so much more. You have won a new subscriber.
I´m trying to lear the first part now,and it´s really hard to stay in the rythm all the time. This video has really been inspiring,so i´ts a bit sad that it can´t be watched anymore. But thanks anyway.
Excuse me for just a question,Rubato!doesn´t that mean different ways of varying(or is altering the right word in english) the tempo, accentuation etc in various passages?
I beileve rubato does mean all those you have mentioned above.
If you were wondering why did I not use rubato as much on this music, that's because I was thinking that Bach music would be better off with a well-controlled voicing rather than putting too much rubatos or accentuation. I think, this way is giving me a better way to be able keeping the flow of long legatos Bach is famous for.
Thank you for sharing this. You display enviable technical acumen and deftly articulate the simultaneous exultation and yearning that makes J.S. Bach so captivating.
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you like the way I play this Bach Fugue. I love Bach, and it's always a pleasure to be able sharing his wonderful music.
I play this fugue and allegro on the keyboard, and as i was listening to all the other interpretations, none of them seemed ok to me (i don't like rubatos on Bach's music) until i listened to your version. It is beautiful, good job.
This is my favourite fuga by Bach.First heard it on Lute by Jakob Lindberg.I´ve tried it a bit myself. But,as example,my littlefinger cant reach the b from the b-minor chord, without muting the strings.Have you also used Frank Koonces arrangement?
Well done! Don't be afraid to use colour with your right hand to make the various themes speak out more and so tell the the 'story' in a dramatic way. Also the use of rubato could be effective in punctuating the beginning and ending of the musical sections in the piece. An excellent well balanced performance of a difficult piece. The tempo is just right. You've got a solid technique. I look forward to hearing more of you.
Thank You for the kind words and the constructive feedback. It is much appreciated. I'm glad to hear from someone who understands the music. Hope I can bring up more colours and the dynamic out from the music. Kind regards, TSP.
after listening to it a couple of times... and headbanging all the while, i think your performance is just perfect! so magnificent:)

This looks and sounds like a 2007
