don't be so angry with yourself!! some days it just doesn't work - try slower tunes and calmness to get you back in the poi zone :-) learn slow enjoy forever
You should put rolled up socks into another pair of socks, or you could do it my way... I put 1/5 to 1/2 cups of uncooked rice into cut off toes of stockings, I then tie it off into a little ball Put those balls into your socks and you are set ^____^
I've noticed that the more you hit yourself and keep going, the more you learn. Still I slow down my speed if I'm trying super hard stuff.
look..i just tried that..with two socks and a few coins..i think you know what happened..im not eating tonight...did you do the same at the begining???
I feel like I started off great, but I've hit this poi wasteland lately.
I think that I'm not that much better than my 2 month video at one year =(
I have to avoid BTB moves since I have back problems, so I'm trying to make up for that with dance and elliptical moves. I hope I can be as good as my earlier days suggest.
Best bit is not to worry about how things are now... Not to think negatively about it and just keep going as if it were all a new experience.
If anything you may find that the way you will have to learn to add in your other styles will in fact make an entirely new and beautiful style... and you will feel nothing but pride... enough to be able to say that you created it... enough to have people come from far and wide to see
So, from video one to video two theres an astounding amount of progress. As far as transitions go, you'll find the ins and outs. However, I would suggest on working on your weaves and butterflies reversed which will allow you full range motion...or the ability to turn in circles and switch directions with relative ease.
Keep up the good work. I subscribed to check on your progress. I should upload some more vids myself lol.
I have been needing some sort of advice, and thus helps a lot =D
I hurt my back again, and have taken a week long break from everything, but I'll be spinning a little tonight, and I'll post my progress in a day or two =)
OH yeah! Good job. I like that you are now posting some vids! Great job! Keep posting! I love the music. You go girl! I would love to help, but I don't know much about Poi! You look great, though!
PS- Where DID you get those pants!? I like them too. : )
Thank you so much! ^_^ It's nice to know that someone watches them haha. I was starting to feel a little lame. Once I get good I'll replace these with good videos <3
The pants were just a Nordstrom buy =) I think there are lots of them at Ross now.

Well, I spent two whole days working on it, and used online tutorials to walk me along. That's the truth =/
My back started bothering me around 3 months, so I stopped working on it. My progress really tapered off dramatically after that.
Right now I'm working on being creative with simple movements, and really using dance to express my self.
Anyway, I think it's pretty clear that I was new to it, since I had no flow. I just did one move at a time standing in one place.
take care

Took me about 4 months to learn all that so hats of your obviously naturally talented at poi'ing .

tavopank 3 years ago
It's a little of both lol
I spent like 10 hours on it, and meenik is an amazing teacher =D
otherwheregirl 3 years ago
ehm.. you must be a natural if u can do that after 2 days already so if its the truth respect for that

Thanks =) I did spend a LOT of time doing it during the first few days. This video was after about 8-10 hours of solid work.
I really think a person is as good as the number of hours they spend really working on new stuff.
My progress is slowing way down now that I only do it once a week =/ I need to work on it more often =P
