  • i was afraid, she would fail, but she sounds great!

  • She sounds great. It's a tough song to sing, you can tell her voice was giving out early in the song, but she stuck through it! Awesome job!

  • this is the most acurate rendition i've seen, including all the floyd live videos

  • Average, seen MUCH better

  • that girl can sing and if you think otherwise post something better

  • I think she is pretty good, just little rusty voice sounding like effected by smoking, but she has a heart in it and hey I try singing this and it is hell of a work. I heard lots of excellent singers completely messing this song up. A from me too.

  • wooou thats is coool is soo dificult sign like that!!!

  • In a bar, ye girl ye you were a true star. Love it. A big tough song done mightily and in a bar!

  • its fuckin difficult. its srsly not bad what she does..

  • Really good attempt and such a difficult song to do. Kudos. :-)

  • she was good but i dont think she was "feeling it".

  • what a big and scary challenge...to imitate Clare Torry...

  • she got this not perfect but dammmmmm!!!!

    respect

    but love torry

  • Wrecked with all the talking at the beginning as it is a very serious song usually. Voice was strained, needs some echo effect, though I loved the ending.

  • Hmmm... well... yes, she did hit the right notes,

but she destroyed her voice doing so (wrong singing technique).

There should have been reverb on the mic, it is the only thing missing.

  • alan parsons project...

i have the album eye in the sky... great songs.

  • this is a very difficult song to sing, near to the impossible... so i give her my respects...

  • im a dude and i can sing it better

  • Not ball at all IMO! Good job!

  • Great job! This is tough to do live I can imagine.

  • This tonality is the only video i have seen on Youtube where her voice is very close to the original.Having worked with laura and still working with laura she has happens to cover artist with very close to there voices. If you watch many other Great gig vids you notice the over kill of Reverb and delay. This is truly absent here. your hearing more of lauras voice in the mix.I think it could have used a bit more myself but for a live performance this was a nice job Laura.

    Clare would approve

  • no, this is bad...Don't like their stupid jokes and don't like the emotions going with the singing of her. O.K. it's not that bad but I have heard better performers.

  • Forget the idiots Laura, you ROCKED !!! This was following a stellar vocalist, and you did a hell of a job, wished I could have been there, and listened to it live, youtube recordings don't always allow the best replay. You should do some Janis Joplin tunes, you would be a Queen of the Mic!!!! >:)

    Kudo's

    kingdog0417@yahoo.com

  • give credit where credit is due she done pretty well she aint cliare torry but its good

  • didn't like it sorry, she tries too hard to reach the notes, but she never does

  • not bad!!!!

  • Mad props, she did pretty well!! Talking in the beginning was a bit of a bother, but she did a good job with the singing. I'm surprised they managed to fit all of those instrument sinto one kitchen.

  • nice voice.....crappy band.....

  • pretty good job!!

  • hard song to sing, probably way to hard and still she manages to sound fine, gotta give her some credit

  • from 2:28 she kind of sounds like a seagul.

    Great effort though.

  • @91Lexis jajaaj your right

  • I have listened to the original of this song a thousand or more times and many interpreters, well done to this fine effort, at least stuck to the original score as opposed to the many copies out there, a good try!

  • agreed SaintUdnitz

  • Clare Torry in the original is formidable, and so is Katie Kissoon on PULSE.

Bold effort, and not half bad, but this is an excessively difficult song to sing. Full kudos from here...

  • Amatuer effort. At least hire someone who could play pedal steel guitar.

  • Give her an `A´for effort, and better than I could ever do, but there will never be anybody that did it like Clare Torry.

  • there is a difference between scream and make music, i just saw half video...

    better luck next time...

  • Man if the sound man would have put any effects on her voice it would have helped tremendously. Sounds like she really got winded at the end of the first part.

  • i was pleasantly surprised by her performance.

  • very nice...

  • va muy rapido el piano

  • Oh Brother, what a ruckus. Cover bands usually have to play it identical to the original or they are not hired. So they tried to do it, but it's just sloppy loose and amateurish. The SONG is spectacular, but the band is mediocre. When it's just the piano and the singer it's quite nice, tho.

  • @KingKook do not know what about u but i will never have chance to be on pink floyd concert, so if i will have chance to listen or this or some pop bands I will listen to this... I respect them for trying hardest song ever, and it is actualy not bad at all..

  • Lady take a bow, as you nailed this,,,,

  • She is doing great! I am big fan of the original and I trully respect her performance!

  • they would not have known during the recording (well, not necessarily) but if they had lowered the level of her mic 25% and put a a lot more large reverb on it: it would have come off much better. BTW, the slide guy needs to come in on cue (and learn how to slide) But overall, not bad ~

  • Nice try but she doesn't hold a candle to Clare Torrey's version.

  • i think she did a pretty good job, its a tough song, she wasnt dreadful. I'll give her a pat on the back for making a decent job of it :)

  • you dont' have a conversation while playing live lol

But, saying that, great TRY at the vocals - that's not easy to sing I'm sure of it lol

  • Awesome

  • Good, but a little too raspy

  • That was great. Not even Floyd's backing singers can sing it like the record and i dont think Clare could do it again. Best job i've heard.

  • la amooooooooooooo me quiero casar con ellaaa estas hermosa eres la mejor mujer del mundoo. la necesitooo jajaja

  • you cant fool around like this when you try to pay respect to this song...

I just said that! hahaha, shut up!

get into the infinite sadness of the vocal solo, girl! wtf??!!

thats just shit, I didnt even continue listening I just respect the original too much...

stupid bullshit talking ...cant do that, GUYS!

  • @SaintUdnitz totally agreed. also the original vocal is just beautiful and continuous, whereas this is broken up

  • @rickenbacker03 yeah...

...nice nickname btw. bassist? if yes, congrats on supposedly owning a rick? cheers

  • @SaintUdnitz i'd like to think of myself as one haha, yes and i bought a jg 4003 in 2008 brand new from american musical supply, i didn't want to wait over a year from a local shop

  • @SaintUdnitz I think that the point of having a conversation on stage is to take their own interpretation of the conversations you hear on the original song. There you have thoughts about death, the words spoken by these musicians here are trivial, but I think that's the way of showing how mortal and brief and trivial each human is, as we all live as if we did not know that at some point we will end.

It may be my interpretation, and I may be mistaken. If that's so, credits to me. Hehe.

  • Anyway, this woman puts blood to her singing, and she's one of the two women I've seen really getting the point of the lyrical part of this song.

  • Thats nice, but clare torry is the best. One of my favs of Pink Floyd.

  • nice one , i love this song

  • great.... really just a bit of reverb on voice.... but it's great!

  • No offense guys, but this is an UNBEARABLE and DISRESPECTFUL rendition of Clare Torry's epic interpretation.

    Period.

  • " I just said that!

    she says:

    I know! LOL

  • better than pulse one

  • you didn't just say this......LOL!

  • that was awesome.

  • its good, but not good enough! there needs to be more reverb!!! :]

  • that was fucking amazing!

  • UN reto duro para quien séa interpretar esta rola de Pink Floyd....buen trabajo

  • @petergabriel99 definitivamente un reto muy duro =S

  • wow ... terrible comparing to pulse concert

  • Grande brexa do baixista!!! em 2:30 até 2:34.. Cagou!!

  • i just watched an interview w/ torry. and from what she said on how it all came about, then she deserved the songwriting credit for that song. that song has to be shared with other singers when singing it live though. it's too much strain on the vocals.

  • bravo Laura !

  • damn she nailed it...brought tears...there is nothing like this being sung live...well done Laura, you rock girl!!

  • Nailed it! awesome! to the point of goosebumps

  • Beautiful singing!

  • That IS Laura Press. She is my wife. That was on 2/17/06. Cut from the start is her saying, "This is for you Ray." Our friend the late, great Ray Barretto died that day. That is why she is not totally dead on. She was fighting back tears. She usually does that song a lot better than this. BTW, the levity at the start is just a bunch of friends on stage playing for a bunch of friends in the audience at a friends bar. Remember is it supposed to be fun. That is why it is called paying music.

  • TheJonPress You're a wonderful husband sticking up for your wife like that! There is no need for you to have to explain anything because she did awesome! I sang this at a party w/ a band and its HARD to sing! I trained my already trained voice for months! I am sorry that was such a difficult day for her, but singing is such a release! There's always going to be the "haters" out there that get off on hurting people! Where does the band play? Calif??

  • wow that was really good i was expecting this to suck like crazy

  • forget the rest ...clare torry is the one and only 1972

  • this shits sick man almost sounds like the original

  • better than 99.9 % of people that try to sing this song. She kicked ass on it. Might not be Bianca Antoinette but I'll bet Laura sings this better now than Clare Torrey could today. jmo but this was pretty good

  • I give this woman credit for trying such a difficult song. She did a great job.

  • Granted Laura does a great job, but this is not Clare. I don't believe Clare has performed Great Gig live since 1990. I wish I could see Clare sing it live. I have a feeling that she would not be able to duplicate her original performance as well as some other singers. Singers of famous songs have a tendency to "morph" their version into something very different. It'e easier for someone else to listen to a song thousands of times and copy it perfectly.

  • I know exactly what you mean. It really changes the feeling.

  • look her up on myspace. there is a Laura Press. Clare would be a lot older

  • I don't know if it's just me and another poster here, but that is Clare Torrey. I looked up Laura Press, and apparently there is nothing on google listing a singer that even vaguely could pull that off so exactly. Alan Parsons originally set up the studio session for Pink Floyd's Great Gig. If there are members here as listed it stands to reason she might participate. Linda Press was listed to cover this for whatever reason is my feeling. This is Clare!

  • gotohoward...I looked Clare Torry up on Wikipedia and she did sing with the Alan PArsons Project, but the [picture on Wikipedia does not look like Laura Press at all. Clare just sued Pink Floyd a few yrs ago because she wanted song writing credit on Great Gig and she won that plus a lot of money. I don't think they're the same people, but it makes sense why you might think that!

  • You can compare to Claire Torry because it is Claire Torry!!! Many years (and a few kilos) on!

Shows how much you all know.....

  • the description says its Laura Press. Did Claire Torry change her name?

  • I agree with you totally. I matched the cover right opposite (Ecoutez Attent..) with an 08 wikipedia file photo, and listen to both the studio and this version, and I feel conclusively this evidence shows it. I might be wrong, but would very surprised if I am. Clare Torry is the woman singing in this cut.

  • That's a very amazing "Pink-Floyd-Cover-Band"!

  • that was great nice voice

  • anche troppo brava per cantare in un centimetro quadrato di spazio :-)

  • to even attempt this is takes a lot of courage. awesome job too, altho the voices at the start were really lame

  • I think Zaphrod88 said it perfectly. I've never seen anyone attempt this song outside of Floyd in a live setting. We can't compare to Claire Torry, so I give a major thumbs up to this rendition. Nice work!

  • Very diffucult to performe this song...Nice job! But she is in some places out of tune ...Can be better...

  • Good power, good notes, no emotion. Their joking around at the begining is contrary to the intent. Look up the Roger Waters interview about how they prepaired the singer for this part. It sure wasn't about joking around.

  • I just said that.....lol that was funny.

    good cover guys

  • pare che stanno a scuoia' un capretto a volte!! cmq discreta come cover!

  • wonderous stories are playing friday oct 17, 2008 at frank cariola's sundance , 621 route 25a, rocky point, ny. Its in suffolk county long island. this is a great band playing a brand new beautiful premier rock club.

  • I can't believe a band would even attempt this song live, and I'm shocked out how fucking amazingly they pulled it off. BRAVO!!!

  • wonderous stories are playing friday oct 17, 2008 at frank cariola's sundance, 621 route 25a, rocky point, ny. its a brand new beautiful rock n roll club.

  • que versión más ESPANTOSA por diooossssssss!!!

nunca un matiz en la voz... es todo el mismo grito pero más alto o más bajito...
