@montydendron1 I do find it ironic that you say that about a song released in the "good old days" of 1939... the first year of the most violent confrontation in human history.
@getkristan i have no memory or prejudices of it and i must say its the most beautiful music ive ever heard. i wish i could dream like this, maybe in french version, im the happiest person int the world
I recall watching a documentary in which a Bismarck survivor recalled hearing them play this piece over the ship's intercom moments before they set off the scuttle charges.
This Documentary brought me to Erhard Rudolf Hans Schuricke wich was called Rudicke by his friends. Many nice songs like "Einmal wirst Du wieder bei mir sein","Dreh Dich noch einmal um" and so on.
I think that the reason so many people are informed about Bismarck is that we British admire an honourable enemy putting up a good fight and also the loss of the Hood to Bismarck is a major, though not seminal, event in that period.
Toller Aufnahme. Hat mich wieder mal ins träumen versetzt. Danke fürs hochladen. Einfach Spitze !!!

That song was played when the battle ship "Bismarck" was sunk in 1941. "J'attendrai - I'll wait for you"

Everyone knows the last song played on the Titanic (Nearer my God to Thee)
Well, this songs claim to fame is it is last song played on the German battleship DKM Bismarck
Maxobillion 3 years ago 5
Yes, it's the last song played on Bismarck.
But, how you know?
What is you source?

Maxobillion 3 years ago 4
Yes, indeed. The survivor is Karl Kuhn.
(Now passed away).
The documentary about Bismarck is from the
series Der Jahrhundert krieg. (ZDF)
It's suprising that even in our days so many
people are very well informed about Bismarck.
BTW, the performance in the documentary seems
to be slightly different to the one here.
