  • Thank you for the helpful video @thatoneguyonline ! Can you please clarify for me what "reserve kombucha" is?

  • Can I still grow the Scoby without the Kombucha ? I cant find Kombucha tea?

  • Thank you SO MUCH for this video! You are the best for posting this!!

  • Great info

  • Do you need kombucha to grow the scoby? I read that you can use vinegar if you don't have kombucha

  • will dextrose work instead of glucose?

  • @KillerCompilations Not that I know of. Anything other than sugar will give you an inferior product.

  • Thanks soooo much for this video! I ordered an expensive dehydrated scoby and could never get a batch out of it. I followed the directions perfectly but every single batch molded. I thought, wow, is it really that hard? All my stuff was clean & what they said to do. Nothing worked. I followed what you did with one exception: 1 bottle that I strained. It worked PERFECT. Unbelievably wonderful. Thank you so much! Scammers wanting to make money on selling scoby when it's that easy, shame on them

  • @solaraine Great! Enjoy your kombucha :)

  • dear xx, i strictly followed your instructions in making a scoby, but i don't like the colour it has after 7 days fermentation. white stuff, as on your video, but some grey stuff, too. maybe it's normal, but i sospect it could be MOLD, but yet it's not dusty or fizzy.... i took some photos, would you be so kind as to take a look? where can i write to you? asja909 et gmail com please, don't abbandon me now!

  • @asja0550 Bright neon yellowish or black mold is what to watch for. I'll send you a personal message with my E-mail address to send this pics to.

  • I just want to tell you Thank you soooooo much for your help, three weeks ago I followed your instructions and wala!!!! I have my scoby very georgeos and healthy. Again thank you!

  • @MsChika74 Nice to hear!

  • thank you sooooo much for this video, I made my own today so let's see what happen. :0)

  • All of your videos are solid. I like how you give alternative ways to doing things ie. "you can use glass" and "you can cover the wheat berries with newspaper" Great job.

  • Informative video-thanks! Can you drink the liquid that was used to make the scoby? is it kombucha?

  • I used half a GT's raw KT and created a SCOBY from it by just adding extra sugar to the first mother. I saved the other half the the GT's KT and refreshed it was sweet tea. I left that original half of refreshed KT and now it's my everlasting SCOBY mother maker. I just pour half the refreshed KT into a jar, and make another SCOBY. I keep refreshing my orginal KT, and it keeps on making more SCOBYs.

  • Starting to grow a SCOBY right now. Can you drink the leftover liquid, in 5 weeks, once the SCOBY has grown?

  • Can you eat a scoby? O.O''

  • @tubalarmarine I would advise against that.

  • @thatoneguyonline I want a scoby snack

  • Excellent and simple . It seems to have come out perfect!nice job . Will have to try it very soon. Do you know what causes the mold?

  • I'm using a combo of green tea and Yerba Mate, and so far so good :)

  • This worked amazing! Thanks Matt!

  • Dude--this is the first video I've seen on making a SCOBY--well done and thanks for the knowledge!

  • What should I substitute if I don't have GT's original Kombucha? I've never seen Kombucha in my country yet. Is it OK not to put original Kombucha?

    Thanks,

  • I WANT TO TRY THIS STUFF...i just cant find it anywhere..does anybody no where i can get any?? PLEASEEEE thank u

  • @southfinest2541 Wholefoods or a local health food store with a refrigerater .

  • I started growing a scoby today but I think I may have used a little too much water :/

    will the scoby still grow?

  • @guitargczr699 Yeah, it just might take a little longer.

  • @thatoneguyonline Thanks for the info! :)

  • this is so cool

  • is it possible to make the mushrrom out of just tea, water, and sugar (like say i have no access to a health food store to buy the kombucha drink)

  • @mkmkk Umm... I'm not sure. You might be able to throw some vinegar in there to get it started, but reserve kombucha would be the best.

  • well organized video. thank you!!!

  • @flamerabbit1987 Thanks for watching!

  • Well, my SCOBY looks creamy white and beautiful! Thanks for the info! I am now making my first batch of Kombucha Tea. Awesome!

  • @healthminded Awesome!

  • Thanks so much for the video! I am making my first SCOBY right now. I used 2 bottles of GT's Gingerade, cause they didn't have the original flavor. May I ask why you don't completely pour both bottles in? Not sure if there was a reason or not, but I poured both full bottles in with the exception of about a 1/4 cup that I left out for me to drink. :) I am so excited and sure hope this first try goes well! Thanks again!

  • @healthminded I just poured half of each bottle in mainly to get the cultures that were floating on top from each as to equal the amount of one bottle, but double the culture.

  • can you only use the scoby one time? my friend gave me a scoby, I am making it now for the first time and once in the tea is ready and my scoby made a baby, do i make the next batch with that baby and discard the mother?

  • @ThomasDeanNordlum You can use SCOBYs like 5 or 6 times... you'll know when they get too old to use.

  • Thanks for the video! Is it safe to drink the liquid from the mother batch? This will be my first time making Komboucha (I usually purchase it from my local market). Does it have an odor?

  • @SunnysTooFly Yes, that should be okay... it may be a little strong though.

  • If I remember right, most common sugar is actually sucrose, not glucose. Just sayin'.

  • @joeproctor Hmm...

  • @joeproctor Table sugar is sucrose, glucose is sugar in the blood.

  • @joeproctor Sucrose is one glucose bonded to one fructose

  • It grew green after all. XD It's like your scoby, except has less color, and it has a tint of limegreen.

  • @XxrElEAsEmExX Great!

  • Aww man!!! I did it with the green kombucha!!!! It's just like yours except it says multi green. Should I throw it out or could the scoby grow green??

  • @XxrElEAsEmExX I've seen someone else use multi green with success. So... it's "should" work. Let us know!

  • Should the scoby be a certain size before it can be used to make a batch of kombucha? My scoby's been forming for a week and a half now and it's already formed into a thin disk.

  • @gigglybop213 It's shouldn't be too thin. In my opinion, if you can see through it then it's too thin. I would wait until it looks similar to mine in the video.

  • Great video! I've been drinking kombucha for a while now and love it. Growing my first scoby now and can't wait to try my first batch!

  • @gigglybop213 GREAT! Let us know how it turns out.

  • great video, where do you get the 2 bottles of kombucha for the initial ingredients to make scoby?

  • @MaDmOnkyKungFu Thanks! I got the 2 bottles of GT's kombucha from my local health food store.

  • whats the name of the cloth you use?

  • @BadMonkeySyndrome I used cheesecloth, but it was an all natural thick kind I found at Whole Foods. Regular cheesecloth at most retail stores is usually pretty thin, so if you use cheesecloth make sure it's thick so dust and fruit / vinegar flies can't get in. A 100% cotton handkerchief works great as well. You can find handkerchiefs usually by the men's underwear at retail stores. Alternatively, you can cut a square out of a 100% cotton T-shirt.

  • My sister is going to love this! Thank you :)

  • @LoriAretz Great!
