  • Well, Heifetz spent 66,000 hours playing and practicing by the age of 38 (He died at 87), about 5.5 hrs a day average from the age of 3. And it was very intelligent, deliberate and efficient practice. Not to mention the piano and all other studies and the rigors of non-stop touring. You wonder how he managed to play that way all life...

That's why he's among the very best of the best...now where are we all?

  • i think not even Chuck Norris could do this one... well maybe he can but hardly :)

  • I think that are no words to explain what I´m thinking right now, I mean, I hace never seen someone play like that.

  • Holy Crap. His octaves at 1:41 are impeccable! I'm a violist, and I ALMOST want to play the violin just so I can be Jascha Heifetz when I grow up. I don't even know how he does it! His shits are impeccable, and throughout his double-stops, his left arm is relaxed and his wrist is in... It's like he doesn't even know what tension IS! He has SO much emotion without being over the top or contrived, and his tone is OUTSTANDING.

  • @spanging ME TOO!… almost ;)

  • Amazing!! This guy is INSANE. I hope I can get that good one day!

  • I love him. I really do.

  • The finger plucking part is CRAZY.

  • Totally.

  • Concertmaster Alexander Barantschik plays Jascha's violin that was made in 1742 by Giuseppe Guarnerius

    with the San Francisco Symphony.

I have heard it numerous times and the tone is

    amazing...

  • Thank you, Sim155, for this posting. I am noting Heifetz's articulation, bow devision, slashing bowing when required, intonation, economy of movement, etc; it is the COMBINATION of all the elements that is so amazing, magical, riveting, electrifying. I forgot to breathe! What a noble violinist.

  • Absolutely MONSTER!!!Certainly the greatest violinist of at least the 20th century.

  • yea doooooooooo agreeeeeee
