Song's kickass, guys! Where can i get this demo and your first album? I'm a big textures lover so I guess it's no big surprise that I could like your band too ;D
We deleted the first demo (2007) as it shares a few tracks with the new album to be released this year and didn't want two version of some of the tracks out there. Sorry Danucis. Album version is worth the wait though!
Please, PLEASE work that bit during the first 50 seconds and the last 30 or so of the video into a song. If you already have, what is the song or songs called? Awsome stuff keep it up!
I asked a few pages back. Said they are just little riffs they havnt worked into songs yet. but that was 6 months ago mabey they have them worked into a final version by now?
some other lesser known runners up of the genre: Defect Noises, Octopus' last album Coda, Alpha Trion. there are others, but those come to mind first.
I think that Special Defects solo album and naturally Fred/Meshuggah as well are HUGELY influential to a lot of bands, in fact starting a new genre of music and musicians.
Tesseract
The Faceless
Periphery ( Bulb )
to name a few off the top of my head.
I know for a fact that
1. Paul Masvidal of Cynic
2. Stephen Carpenter of Deftones
3. Ron Jarzombek
Think it's amazing. And frankly you should think it's amazing too.
what exactly is the origin of the word "djent"? cause I know Periphery has a "got djent?" t-shirt and I have no idea what it means. I love Meshuggah, Periphery, Fellsilent etc. but I am not familiar with that term.
no idea where it comes from, and it is more of a term describing the guitar sound but i and others have also come to use it to describe the style that comes with bands like periphery, fell silent and tesseract
dutch and german you mean. but yeah i see where you are coming from. in dutch we call german: duits. and in dutch we call dutch: nederlands. so it can get confusing when translated
I dont know how you can judge this band so badly!? sure have have heavy meshuggah influences but arent alot of bands similar these days? (faceless and veil of maya to name 2 no matter how awesome they are!)
Tess have an incredible sound and song writing skills, a sound unique even from meshuggah as someone said before its much more melodic!
No one has to like them but I have been tracking them for about a year and have fallen in love hahaha
0:15 is the mouth licking what you've bled. I prefer the stuff they do thats more ambient and less of a Meshuggah rehash. The clips they've done with the singer are incredible
the song they start playing at 1:10 goes from ripping off the intro of Textures' "Storm Warning" into a direct ripoff of Fredrik Thordendal's "Krapp's Last Tape"
These guys, Textures and Meshuggah are kings of the genre. Can't wait to hear what Tesseract has to offer with their full-length. Beautiful music guys.
i'll totally 2nd that!. i too, dig the more progressive, tech, math, musician (whatever you wanna call it) metal, coming out now. but one cant help to think that most of these bands force it open them selfs to sound like there fave bands as its the "in thing". a few years back, they were probley nu-metal clones. tis funny how things come back around.
nah i take that back aye. think that was the first time id listened to TesseracT, now ive heard most of their stuff and it is ... amazing. original to say the very least. every band has to have influences.

I'll be waiting ;)

Some people (including some of the bands themselves) like to call it "djent" :)

velvetrevolver999 3 years ago
it's an onomatopoeia for the recognisable guitar sound. Try looking it up on urbandictionary :) I'm not sure who coined it.

RealityBend 3 years ago
me too, badass video though, sounds alot like meshugah.
CadetLD 3 years ago
hehe its tesseract. wrote it like 3-4 years ago.
at the moment we just play it as an intro to our set but we should be putting it on the album...would like to turn it into a full song first though!
Tesseractproject 3 years ago
Full song would be better, the riff has more potential than an opening to the set!

that groove made me shit, piss and puke at the same time. like, holy crap

it's TesseracT - as yet unreleased stuff.

yeah its the same... cool vid!

I believe it is this one joint off of textures "Denying Gravity" LP. I cannot remember the name, but its only about 8-9 tracks on it
so you should be able to find it easy

any one that can pull off music that sounds like what Meshuggah pioneered 15 years ago is brilliant.
i've waited a long time to find a band that can satisfy me as much as Meshuggah.
rehash? so what? it's bloody awesome.
teaspooner 3 years ago
I find it expands on Meshuggah's sound bigtime. Melody and ambience instead of atonal groove.
I adore both, by the way.
webbtje 3 years ago
yeah i agree actually.
i'm looking forward to seeing what Tesseract come up with when they start producing albums and mature as a unit.
their potential is huge.
for now, i can't wait for the mini album.
