  • So did you guys record the 2007 Demo with Stef Broks or just write it/parts of it?

  • IS THIS THE NEW STUFF FOR ONE?!

    insane

  • goed busy Stef

  • what's the intro song? sounds a lot like textures but i haven't heard anything like that from textures so far. Is it some tesseract song ?

  • Yeah it's a demo for the second album that we sometimes play live. As is the track at the end.

  • Song's kickass, guys! Where can i get this demo and your first album? I'm a big textures lover so I guess it's no big surprise that I could like your band too ;D

  • We deleted the first demo (2007) as it shares a few tracks with the new album to be released this year and didn't want two version of some of the tracks out there. Sorry Danucis. Album version is worth the wait though!

  • Oh, it's ok, I just misunderstood something and forgot that getting demo before album realease isn't the most greatest thing to ask to a band . :D

    I'll be waiting ;)

  • please give me a list of bands like that. I've worn out FellSilent, meshugga, xerath etc...

  • Tour Lineup idea -

    TesseracT

    Xerath

    Meshuggah

    Textures

  • Meshuggah first you idiot

  • @shanebieda Well I wasn't really putting them in any specific order... but alright, you can be a random dick head.

  • @Jdcie haha. Dude chill. It's ok if you're wrong. hahaha.

  • @shanebieda alright

  • nice jam! when is your album coming out ?!?!

  • what the song in the background?

    :)

  • I belive he uses a 14" or 16" stagg (sh?) china..

    Yes, STAGG.

  • Can someone pleasee tel me what small chine he has in the middle? :D

  • it was part of Jay's old spock. 15" Sabian AAX if I'm not mistaken

  • @Tesseractproject

Please, PLEASE work that bit during the first 50 seconds and the last 30 or so of the video into a song. If you already have, what is the song or songs called? Awsome stuff keep it up!

  • yeah i personally prefer drawing circles :)

  • Its a good album but Drawing Circles is slighty better if u ask me

  • Textures album Silhouettes is a MUST have

  • please tell me the song at the very start :|

  • yah plez!!!

  • I asked a few pages back. Said they are just little riffs they havnt worked into songs yet. but that was 6 months ago mabey they have them worked into a final version by now?

  • @chunkyG11 I AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @chunkyG11 don't know if you're still looking for it 2 years later, but it's called hollow by tesseract

  • some other lesser known runners up of the genre: Defect Noises, Octopus' last album Coda, Alpha Trion. there are others, but those come to mind first.

  • ALPHA TRION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Stef's laugh is hilarious, lmfao.

  • I think that Special Defects solo album and naturally Fred/Meshuggah as well are HUGELY influential to a lot of bands, in fact starting a new genre of music and musicians.

    Tesseract

    The Faceless

    Periphery ( Bulb )

to name a few off the top of my head.

I know for a fact that

    1. Paul Masvidal of Cynic

    2. Stephen Carpenter of Deftones

    3. Ron Jarzombek

Think it's amazing. And frankly you should think it's amazing too.

  • Some people (including some of the bands themselves) like to call it "djent" :)

  • what exactly is the origin of the word "djent"? cause I know Periphery has a "got djent?" t-shirt and I have no idea what it means. I love Meshuggah, Periphery, Fellsilent etc. but I am not familiar with that term.

  • it's an onomatopoeia for the recognisable guitar sound. Try looking it up on urbandictionary :) I'm not sure who coined it.

  • no idea where it comes from, and it is more of a term describing the guitar sound but i and others have also come to use it to describe the style that comes with bands like periphery, fell silent and tesseract

  • yeah bands like Tesseract, Periphery, Bulb, Architects, Switchback, Textures, etc.

i love way they use rhythm as the emphasis rather than melody

  • reminds me of Special Defects by Frederik Thordendal

  • shit i messed up with duch and deuch.. :D

  • dutch and german you mean. but yeah i see where you are coming from. in dutch we call german: duits. and in dutch we call dutch: nederlands. so it can get confusing when translated

  • What is the opening and ending song? I am dying to know! Is it textures or tesseract?

  • me too, badass video though, sounds alot like meshugah.

  • hehe its tesseract. wrote it like 3-4 years ago.

at the moment we just play it as an intro to our set but we should be putting it on the album...would like to turn it into a full song first though!

  • Full song would be better, the riff has more potential than an opening to the set!

  • that groove made me shit, piss and puke at the same time. like, holy crap

  • it's TesseracT - as yet unreleased stuff.

  • lol dutch, netherlands...same thing isn't it? Well geography wise anyway.

This was when postones was in the band but stef was over on tour and just thought we'd jam for a couple of days before he went home.

  • yeah its the same... cool vid!

  • Was this before Postones joined?

  • nah, stef was over touring with textures and arranged a jam after a show we did with them.

  • rofl "textures aren't dutch there from netherlands". idiot.

  • Textures is dutch

  • dutch is netherlands im from the netherlands

  • what an idiot, since when is dutch not the same as being from the netherlands?

  • In want the fuckin song at the end of the video. NOW.

  • What song does the video open with?

  • I believe it is this one joint off of textures "Denying Gravity" LP. I cannot remember the name, but its only about 8-9 tracks on it

so you should be able to find it easy

  • Sounds more like Tesseract..

  • stef brok's a lefty eh? :) nice...

  • any one that can pull off music that sounds like what Meshuggah pioneered 15 years ago is brilliant.

i've waited a long time to find a band that can satisfy me as much as Meshuggah.

rehash? so what? it's bloody awesome.

  • I find it expands on Meshuggah's sound bigtime. Melody and ambience instead of atonal groove.

I adore both, by the way.

  • yeah i agree actually.

i'm looking forward to seeing what Tesseract come up with when they start producing albums and mature as a unit.

    their potential is huge.

for now, i can't wait for the mini album.

  • I dont know how you can judge this band so badly!? sure have have heavy meshuggah influences but arent alot of bands similar these days? (faceless and veil of maya to name 2 no matter how awesome they are!)

Tess have an incredible sound and song writing skills, a sound unique even from meshuggah as someone said before its much more melodic!

No one has to like them but I have been tracking them for about a year and have fallen in love hahaha

  • 3:19 now THAT is Tesseract. More of that please.

  • 0:15 is the mouth licking what you've bled. I prefer the stuff they do thats more ambient and less of a Meshuggah rehash. The clips they've done with the singer are incredible

  • haha man what is tesseract's deal?

the song they start playing at 1:10 goes from ripping off the intro of Textures' "Storm Warning" into a direct ripoff of Fredrik Thordendal's "Krapp's Last Tape"

  • Look on the date, when it was uploaded... they can't copy Storm Warning...

  • oh ok gotcha. so then they just directly ripped off thordendal! shameless really haha

  • :O TesseracT

    FROM CHILE

    Congratulation U.u

  • well a banned named tesseract

  • my dad was in that band

  • bullshit fucking liar

  • These guys, Textures and Meshuggah are kings of the genre. Can't wait to hear what Tesseract has to offer with their full-length. Beautiful music guys.

  • YES.

  • I'm really looking forward to this bands full length release.

  • whats the name from the intro song??

    thanx

  • Whats the name of the track from 3:12 to the end?

  • that was a great cover of sol niger guys.

    christ!

i love many bands in this vein but the blatant thordendal/meshuggah influences in their music are sometimes just too fucking much. be more ORIGINAL!

  • i'll totally 2nd that!. i too, dig the more progressive, tech, math, musician (whatever you wanna call it) metal, coming out now. but one cant help to think that most of these bands force it open them selfs to sound like there fave bands as its the "in thing". a few years back, they were probley nu-metal clones. tis funny how things come back around.

  • just shut up and enjoy the music.

  • Haha, yeah the intro riffs are Sol Niger Within 2008.

    But who cares it's cool.

If someone did a Master of Puppets 2 now. That isnt Metallica. You think anyone would be upset?

  • nah i take that back aye. think that was the first time id listened to TesseracT, now ive heard most of their stuff and it is ... amazing. original to say the very least. every band has to have influences.

  • The "Intro" song is also their's yeah?

  • Do u know the name of the intro song??

  • I would love to know....

  • This album needs to hurry up! :-D

  • I hope You're going with Stef. He's fucking brilliant.

  • Cool video. Good music - but at the start you totally ripped off Fredrik's Sol Niger Within.

  • Esto es, Real Math Metal =)

Gracias Meshuggah por crear tan semejante manera de tocar! grandes decendientes los avalan!

    Saludos desde Chile ;D

  • totalmente cierto! gracias meshuggah!

  • awesome meshuggah influence.

  • Do you need to pay royalties to Fredrick?! You certainly play it well.

  • this is the music of the future...honestly....i've never been so impressioned in my whole life.

  • The part starting at 3:10 better be on the cd!!

  • I smell that someone has listened a bit to Meshuggah hehe =). Awesome

  • Sounds awesome!

Really looking forward to that album. :)

  • keep up the great job!!!Love the songs

  • Just discovered you guys and you are great. I know about 4people here in Ireland who will buy your album as soon as it comes out. I cant wait!!!

  • Dutch pride :)

  • Nice,great playing ;)

  • 200% amazing.
