Lip synching was pretty much standard on TV shows in those days. It was thought that the audience at home and in the studio would be disappointed if they heard a performance of a favorite hit that sounded different from the recorded version they were hearing on the radio and playing on their record player.

This song was written by Phil Spector and a lady. I don't remember her name. I read in a newspaper that she died last week (august 2009) RIP.

RIP also to the lady that PS killed.
