Viewing figures can be a bitch with this show - City Of Death got 16 million viewers.... then the next season was a ratings failure. There was no consistency at all. Even Patrick's third season got down to 4 million - McCoy-era ratings.
Anyone who thinks he wasn't the best doctor should listen to the Big Finish audios. The writing is finally up to his level. The show was not in those days.
Good old colin. I saw him in 96 at a convention in weston super mare. He was brilliant. Had everyone laughing, told great stories and is a really friendly bloke to chat to. He got a bum deal.
great british actor..the bbc are so wrong not to want actors of this calibre on prime time telly.. best of luck colin on all your up-coming theatre work
he always gets the harshest criticism, mainly for things that were not his fault in the slightest. If they'd let him do what he wanted with the character and let him have some creative input in things like his appearance, I'm pretty sure he'd have been remembered quite differently.
i am going to say this about the 11 doctors i am pretty sure time distortion and vortex can be used as a explanation about how they aged... just sayin
RadioMammo - yes - I'm sure they could get a wig for Colin, Peter still looks fine, as does Sylvester. Actually, if Tom dyed his hair and lost a few pounds (as would Colin), he wouldn't look that much different - and they could make up something for the aging process. It wouldn't be beyond technology to get Bill, Pat and Jon involved in minor appearances (they won't moan about not enough lines!). Everything's possible in the world of Who.
@999marinus, I think sheading a few pounds at Tom and Colins age is no easy task. Funny thing is until re-watching the 6th docs ephisodes recently I actually remembered colin as being a pretty trim bloke, When I was a kid he never struck me at chubby when i watched him back then.
I also forgot to say, I agree with everything Colin said. I do hope that all the surviving Doctors can be involved in the 50th - although I would not like to think of the script. Perhaps, Steven is building it all up. The Dr seems to be getting in deeper and deeper into trouble and perhaps the Timelords (they can't really be gone) and his other selves can restore equilibrium - particularly the Silence which, from all accounts, will be very challenging.
@999marinus I'd love to see an episode with them all in it like 'The 5 Doctors'. But it occurred to me that many many years have now passed and the original Doctors are much older. Perhaps some costume wizardry and some digitals effects might just make it work?
Just superb! Colin was so candid and the guy doing the interview asked some really good questions. I do wonder what would have happened if Colin had been given longer and the BBC had not made such a ghastly error of judgement as to phase the series out. I thought Colin's Doctor was excellent - he really got a huge bit of Hartnell into it - what a shame they give him such a bizarre costume.

@RadioWammo Go watch Time Crash, that gives an explanation for the apparent ages of Doctors.
