It would only happen on certain days. Typically sunny and starting coolish. It would only happen on the first start of the day. It was pretty much always teh case that after the start failure, if you wanted about a half hour then you could get it to run, although it would start up rough (as if choked) for 30 seconds or so. What finally fixed it was Subaru replacing the Engine Control Module (computer) (ECM) under warranty.
I am maybe going to buy subaru legacy 2003 and I haven't bought it though but when i was testing it, it took some time to start unusual time. Not as long as did for you but I'm little concerned the same problem will happen. So here's my question how did this problem start, was it to begin with just little different to start then went to this or did this just happen all of a sudden?
I currently drive and '03 sedan and haven't had any problems however on an '87 legacy my family used to own there was a short in the wiring system making a similar problem where it would not start all of the time.
your having a intermitant fault on either the cam or crank angle sensor, something in the ignition system or the fuel pump. need to get them out there when its not starting
hitting the Gas Wil not really do anything as you have Electronic fuel injection. Its not like the old school hit the gas and flood it. you dont ever hit the gas with EFI
to answer your email -- Subaru of America finally authorized our dealer to put in a new engine control module under warranty. We have had no further trouble. I don't think they every figured out for sure was was wrong, however.

putting your foot on the gas puts the pcm into CLEAR FLOOD mode, ie it shuts the injectors off,

It was the ECM thats what i was thinking about as i watched your video. It seemed to be ECM lock up. AKA A frozen computer.
The electricals are running but the electronic fuel injection isnt activating.
Oh and dont ever push on the gas pedal while trying to start a new car, the car will get a false sense of where the gas pedal position is.

Did you have them check for a faulty coolant temp sensor?
kcro25 4 years ago
Either that or a bad mass airflow sensor, crank angle sensor, or throttle positioning sensor.

Just try the jump start.

But maybe this idea is better... try a jump start, if I ever get a vehicle and my liscence.

Maybe you should return that piece of shit.

@Tekkin58 subaru is in no way "shit"
