Believe it or not my only car is a 1969 Calais. Love everything except the gas mileage! I know for a fact you miss it, because I would definitely miss mine!
Imagine what is was like to pull up to the supperclub with this car and your doll in a fox fur. A smoke after a steak and three martini dinner and a ride out in the country getting 7 mpg would follow. You could afford the $ .35 per gallon gas and it was OK to drive after a few pops. If you did that today you'd be in trouble with PETA, the no smoking lobby, the green crowd and the mad mothers group.
@michaelafu1 I cannot answer that question. But as the 1969 and 1970 are almost the same, I suppose that there is not much of a difference in which is most liked. I personally prefer the 1969 tail lights, but the 1970 has wood trim in the instrument panel which is quite nice.
I added your "jims59" site to my favorites. You've got a ton of interesting / amazing things in there! I always stop at exit 193 on I-65 (Wolcott/Chalmers) for gas on my monthly trip north for work. I need to scoot over and check out Fowler sometime. Looks like a great place.
Keep up the great work (especially finding those survivors!)
@joeblow812 Thank you for the kind compliments and for watching. In fact! Today I am buying a 59,000 actual mile (always garaged) original paint unmolested 1972 Dodge Charger. Pulling it from a 26-year sleep!
The 69 was such a dramatic departure for Cadillac, the headlights went Horizontal no exterior turn signal lights, You have a Beautiful 69 also my favorite color for 69 was Grey and Black Vinyl top, and look at the upholstery, really luxurious for its day. I think it was called a brocade. Keep driving it in Good health, Ron L.
@kronitz52 Thank you for the kind compliments. After eleven years of ownership, I passed the car on to another collector. It is in good hands. Thank you for watching.
@mixmaster82 Sadly, the body shop is out of business now for two years, and the painter, a good friend passed away about four years ago. Even though I did the prep work, the paint job was still $2300.00 in 2005. Thank you for watching.
69-70 Coupe DeVille is absolute best American automotive industry has ever offered. It is shame they don't make cars like this anymore. I mean.. cars with 8.2 litre engines, rear-wheel drive, curb weight near 2.5 tons, and still a 2d coupe. That is really cool. Do you think Germans could ever be able to put out anything like this?
You have really a nice car. I like this tipe of cadillac and I hope to have once a coupe de ville. At the moment I have a 2001 SLS. Greetings from switzerland
I had a 69 for 13 years and loved it. I was a daily driver and model was a Calais. I have a vid of our 70 caddy on my channel. Btw, great video. 5 stars.
great video jim59 hold on to that caddy of yours !!! i have 1993 cadillac fleetwood brougham im the 3rd owner of the car got just in time the guy was going to take it to the salvage yard!! so i think i saved this car from a sudden death!! do you like the 93-96's at all the one that i have is in real nice shape needs a little tlc but very good condition for that year...again im lucky

Thank you for the kind compliments and for watching my video.
My grandfather had the very same car, same year, same color, except it had no vinyl top and the interior was a green color. Everything else right down to the hubcaps matched what you have. Thanks so much for bringing back great memories of that classic land yacht.
Can you take us for a ride via the video camera one day? I recall my grandfather's Coupe de Ville as a smooth riding car. The biggest thrill as a 8 year old was to sit in the front seat and look at all those details like power windows and cruise control. Thanks again for the photos and congrats on a great car and a great piece of Detroit history.
Very good idea. When spring comes, I'll see if we can get that accomplished. Judging from the view tally on my other "ride" videos, they are always popular.
I had a '69 DeVille I bought in AZ in 1993 for $500.00. It was in perfect shape! When I got it home I opened the door a couple times to check that it was really out there in the driveway. I had a '59 Edsel at the same time but not as in good shape as the Cadillac. However they both got attention at car shows. The Edsel we heard people say "That is the ugliest car ever made" I loved it!
Jim thats my dream car I'll take a 70 too, but 69's are always my favorite I could tell you take care of all your cars, this one just happens to be my favorite.
