I'm a member of the marching band, and so I've actually been able to talk to "Cav Man", and was down there when it happened.

He didn't fall off. Seriously, he's been playing polo over 20 years.

The horse spooked. That was a new horse that is still getting used to crowds and all the noise, and something spooked him and cause him to just stop in his tracks.

"Sabre" didn't throw him, just the laws of physics say that just because horse stops doesn't mean you stop with it.

I'm sorry that we are discussing semantics here. Obviously, the principle of inertia governs what happened to Cav Man, as defined in Newton's First Law of Motion. I did manage to take Physics at VT. What happens after the horse stops though is correct. He fell to the ground from his perch off the horse.

Actually the CavMan is an amazing horseman and what is truly amazing is that he caught his horse and did re mount, despite the noise and fireworks. Anyone who rides realizes what a great feat it is to ride into noise and confusion and not get bucked off weekly. Agreed. I have always been amazed that CavMan has been able to train "Sabre" to ride through that tunnel and into all the smoke and noise of the stadium.
