  • this is absolutely amazing. personally I like the store cat trees. but they are extremely expensive i was lucky that my 4 level cat tree was only $80 with shipping and handling. but I want to have a second one. for another room so i just might follow some of what you did here. What type of rope and carpet did you use? and how much supplies did you end up needing?

  • dont worry, I am going to incorporate some of yours into the one I am making. cool cat tree. Is the tabby part Bengal?

  • i like this, looks a lot better than the ones at the store, and im sure it costs a lot less ( about to look at your website, lol) the "form fit: to the corner is pretty sweet also

  • Amazing, you should start your own buisness building these & selling them.

  • spider cat

  • Nice. And if the cat wants a Bud, s/he just has to climb down to the base.

BTW My dad made a homemade scratching post a long time ago with a cherry stump and leftover carpet scraps

  • how much did it cost to make?

  • good looks on the korpiklaani. beer beer! your link is dead though, sadly, i (and others, i'm sure) would very much appreciate a minimal blueprint or tutorial for something like this.

  • Awsome! How did you do the carpeting?

    Thanks.

  • vvvvvvaaaaaooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my cat

  • @gerbil375 jjjjjjjjjjjuuuuuuuui

  • Very impressive!!! If they've worn it out, it's definitely from love!! We're looking to build one this next week and we will definitely be using your video for some great ideas, thank you!

  • @5burkholz I agree with you I will be using his some of his ideas as well! Awesome job!

  • I can say that you did very well on that cat scratch post. Very innovative! What material did you use for the covering?

  • Most trees are to easy. This one provides a challenge for the cats.

  • OMG that cat tree is sooooooo pro. Mine is ugly cuz it doesnt have carpet on it o.O

  • Bravo to you for building such a cool tree for your kitty:) And you're right, the ones for sale in stores are usually hideous~

  • Id play on that

  • Looks like allot of fun!

  • Wow! I wish I were handy. That's really cool.

  • Wow....awesome job! I have watched this a several times and just now read the comments. I'm LOL because one of my FAV parts is the "pattern" you chose for the rope. I think it's fantastic. VERY classy looking! Definitely MUCH better looking than the expensive Pet Store Chain ones! Two thumbs WAY up!!

  • LOL! Great video! The cats love it!

  • I love american shorthairs and tuxs :)

  • lol the last thing i expected to hear in the background of a cat condo tutorial was korpiklaani..excellent choice in music and thanks for sharing your ideas! =)

  • Awesome job man your cats look really happy!

  • your black tabby cat is really pretty!!!

  • definately spoiled rotten ;)

  • I love it. You did an awesome job. I am in the process of building a two story one but who knows I may go higher now. Thanks for the great video and your cats are so cute!

  • Wonderful job!

  • nice job with the tower!! I am in the process of building one, but i don't think it's stable enough yet so i need to keep working on it.

  • what is the name of this song?

  • Fuck yeah, Korpiklaani!

  • Great effort nice result

  • cool cat house it helped me alot thanks. whats the name of the song?

  • This looks great! I want to make a scratching post for my cats today. I got loads of ideas from this. I tried to access your link but got a 404 error message. xx

  • lol so cool thay must realy like you i have one tip maybe cet som catnip an make a swall bag out of cloth and put some cat nip in it then put stuffing in it and so the open side up so thears no gaps and atath it to some rope about one centermetre thick and put it on the cat tree pleas reply if you do and maybe make a vid ,i subed

  • 0:47 was that the other cat?!?!

  • how did you get the carpet to stay on the tower so well? please help!

  • I used a staple gun... available at hardware / home improvement stores.

  • @greenbull20 thanks

  • Nice. Cats really appreciate stuff like this. They use it right away. Not like dogs where you buy them a bed or whatever and they don't use it.

  • Why doesn't my cat use its cat tree?

  • Could have spent more time covering the wood.

  • I purposefully left a lot of wood showing. IMHO, it looks a lot better than 100% carpet.

  • The only things I liked about this video are:cats playing, very cool cat tree,music,beer,kitchen,fire-place,mmm....

I guess that about covers it !

  • Wow, at 0:57 I thought one of the cats knocked the other off the tower, but then it was just a stuffed animal. Phew!

  • Very creative, looks like your cats really enjoy it.

  • Indeed, in stores you see many less than half this size for almost $250-$300 (locally anyways), whereas making one yourself can run about $60 and as little as 3-6 hours of work.

For you do-it-yourself ppl, I also recommend using some PL to help bind it all. It will save you a lot of headache down the road.

  • You truly are cat crazy.

  • Yh i am hence the name. why shouldnt cats get the things they want? they only live for like 20 yrs or less

  • I forgot to mention, this comment made my day when you posted it, I was lolz. If you think it was ugly in the video (a few years old now), you should see it today; the cats worn it out.

  • I like the around the corner style though.

  • @trentdk hes jealous because he doesnt have half the brians to build one himself... i would buy that over some green lumpy peice of shit that cost $200.... VERY nice job bro

  • @catCRAAAZY Well, I wouldn't have put it quite -that- way; but I was thinking along similar lines. We thought about making our own cat tree, years ago; but could never decide on a design; plus my husband really didn't have the time to devote to it. You can get nice, large cat trees prefabricated online for around $150 (including shipping). That's the way we went. By the time you purchase wood, carpeting, sisal rope, etc. you probably wouldn't save all that much $.

  • @catCRAAAZY ohh no fuck YOU!

  • @catCRAAAZY

oh dear get a life sado!!

  • Very cool! I made a cat tree myself, saved about $100.oo

  • miller lite nice

  • LOL this is SOOOOO cute!!!!

  • Cool, it was really smart to put twine near all the shelves so he when he is sitting on them he can scratch

  • i think the cats love it

  • Great cat tree! Made all the better by your music choice! Korpiklaani rocked at Paganfest this year. Hope you got a chance to see them too! Anyways, I love the cat tree design. I think I may tweak it as a basis for one I plan on building. Thanks for posting the video!

  • i made a small and simpler design, its a cardboard box, and some 2x4s and a platform!

  • Thats awesome!

  • very nice how much did you spend on building it?. are in a apartment aswell?

  • good job ... thanks for sharing...

  • can the cats fall from that?

  • wow thats cool its really tall im me and my dad r making one its called the ribbon condo it really looks like a ribbon google it

  • Nice looking cat tree! I've been inspired to build my own tree. I'm thinking of also finishing the post and wrapping the sisal rope the same way you did. My kitten thanks you. :)

  • THAT IS SOOOOO COOL

  • how did u make this, we need a video on how you made it

  • We need a tutorial on this! Nice job. Happy cats.

  • Nicely done

  • Well done, how much did it run you down?

  • im making my own homemade cat tree too!

  • OMG Dude, when I saw the black stuffed toy fall from the top 'nest', I thought it was the other cats head ;_; XD

    Other than that though!

Great job! It looks very professional and the cats seem to love it!

  • excellent job.

  • Thats Really Nice ive been wanting one for my cat but i only find ugly ones!

  • Pretty cool, but you should have made the top perch big enough for two cats. As it is, only one of the cats gets to sleep in the perch, and the other one may feel left out.

  • I agree, it would sadden me if they couldn't sleep together -- and in fact they do! It may not look like it in the video, but they both curl up together in that top perch :) Sometimes we'll walk by and just see two tails hanging out of the hole :). Both cats, however, are 'petit' and max out at 9 lbs.

  • Oh, I see. That is nice then!

  • Kudos on the kraft dood! I searched for your video after having started one of my own for my cats, too. Will add a vid of it and maybe some hints. I used clamps and carpenters glue for the carpet adhesive, things like liquid nails is a bad idea, is toxic (and flamable) just a tip. Again GOOD JOB! WIll check out your site, too.

  • haha lol cat parkour

  • ha i like the little crows nest at the top

  • So, you didn't mention on your website how much it cost you to make this thing. I would like to know, please. =)

  • If you have all the tools necessary, then materials were around $40, easy. It depends on how "scrappy" you are :) In a nutshell: 3 2x4s, one 4x4 MDF, one 4x4 1/4" plywood, 2 dowel rods, and a couple feet of 8' carpet.

  • Wow! I'll take $40 and a little manual labor to $200 any day! Thanks! =)

  • LOL!! I love the music- hilarious!

  • Nice!

  • care full the cats dont throw there toys at you lol nice work 10000000/10 :D

  • haha! they must be happy with that! good job!

  • I want a cat more then ever now. -.- good video and how much would you think a cat costs? 5/5.

  • Why would price an animal its like saying how much a child cost. Just go to your local animal shelter and ask to adopt a cat you would only have to pay a donation fee of at least 60 dollars.

  • Whats the song?

  • The song is korpiklaan - happy little boozer.

  • how did you make the base?

  • The base is cut from a 3/4" thick MDF board. The 2x4s were attached with screws from underneath, and with steel braces used in framing houses. Then the base was wrapped in carpet, and rope was use to cover the braces and provided scratch areas.

  • lawl i saw the toy drop and was like oh shit the black cat just fell

  • lolz, that actually happens to the black cat often... she doesn't have the finesse of normal cats, haha.

  • The song is "Korpiklaani - Happy Little Boozer"

  • woot miller light hell yeahz :P btw awsome cats and cat tree :]

  • Looks like loop pile carpet on the video, which isn't recomended because cats can get their claws caught in them and injure themselves. Great design; I see the base fits the outer corner nicely!

  • Good point 79catcer. Thankfully my cats haven't acquired any injuries (they've actually pulled most of the loops out, heh). Note to everyone else: use cut pile carpet (the stuff you see standard in houses).

  • Ingenious.

  • how did you make it? Do you have instructions online? It looks really cool. Your cats seem to enjoy it.

  • that black cat is shinny

  • that lack 1 is shinny

  • Impressive, very good job on the cat tree and the video. Bravo.

  • great work on the tree. your cats are cute.:)

  • Your cats look like they are having a great time on the tree you built. Great idea!

  • Yea, it was very inexpensive to build. 2x4s for the towers, plywood for the platforms, dowel rods for the supports, and carpet and manila rope for grip. The song is korpiklaan - happy little boozer.

  • all it is pretty much is wood, strong twine and carpet probably. what song is that i cant read the credits there all blurry.

  • Both the tree and the video were very creative! I wish my kitties had a cool tree like that! ^.^

  • what a good idea!

  • so how do you make it

  • thats a good looking tree
