  • Thank you

  • i really Loved this Lady ! she s talented and Intellectual person, and i studied from her alot of things that i didn't study all my lecturers in the University...............Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw Thank u so much Erica Olsen

  • Nerd

  • S.M.A.R.T (worth watching), Thanks

  • Your Pretty

  • Thanks ....for

    SMART idea

  • A stands for attainable, means don't set goal that will impossible to achieve and R stands for realistic. Mao ni among pirminting lalisan sa amo mga student.

  • @StroonsGlen yes, you are right, that is one way. But, best practices that we have found in business world, “action” is king and “responsibility” ensures action. It is a slight twist, but it works better in our opinion.

  • fuck i just wanna lose weight

  • Thank you

  • @virtualstrategist, in response to @elxtranjero. BTW: sorry to say this, but any novice can formulate a goal like "open two new stores in New Jersey". In every Entrpreneurship 101 class you learn about raising capital, etc. So, where's the catch? What's the trick? Why is it still so difficult?

  • Part1: I often hear Specific-Measurable-Achievable-Realistic-Timely. But I think @timbrownson is right: A and R are too similar.

Erica’s proposal is OK b/c of Responsible. However, when Erica describes the goal-setting process, it feels very top-down (scribbling subordinate’s name in the corner is an abused "tool"). Imagine CEO w/overblown ego–like 19-yr-old @drumsalltime ;-)–coming in one day, “We must increase satisfaction by10%. C.S. Irene, you’re responsible for X, & IT Joe, please do Y.”

  • Part2: Elsewhere, “A” stands for Agreed. This is sharper b/c it emphasizes that both the goal &the action to the goal must be NEGOTIATED by stakeholders.

That leaves R. I agree with @jdmazzify that words like achievable/reachable don’t help us to think outside the proverbial box. I like the term Relevant, i.e., relevant to a specifically identified&defined problem. Sounds innocuous, but many consistently state that if u don’t understand the underlying problem, then u can't develop a solution.

  • this sounds corney but my goal is to try and to get in your panties. lol

  • This is a S.M.A.R.T lecture on goal setting. Thank you very much Erica!

  • Some reason my comment didn't post. I would like to know how she will measure the 10% with what she has shown us.

  • I like this series, but how in this instance is the 10% measurable?

  • Does she realize she spelled resolve incorrectly? reslove?????

  • @cjaiden1 The forest, not the trees!

  • This is very professionally addressed. I'm a 19 year old entrepreneur, but I'm educated enough in the field of business and management to see that this is very well done. If my whole business was staffed by people with this level of professionalism... The things we could achieve... :)

  • This is HOT or SMART but you said some stuff that are different than our hearings... Like Actionable instead of Attainable.

  • mam that was really great presentation on goal setting..

I see a lot of online videos and i must say this really affected me..

    Thank you very much..

  • I used to use SMART goals for the longest time, but I've recently come to realize that the "achievable" and "realistic" parts of the process tend to encourage sandbagging i.e. people set the bar low so they don't disappoint. I recently came across research that HARD goals are better than smart goals. It's worth considering: Google "Are SMART Goals Dumb"

  • what if you are a fast food chain. could your goal be: expand by two new stores in new jersey this year.

then you would have to break down every step that you need to do

to make it real. (get investment, etc...)

or am i talking about a whole other thing...

  • @elxtranjero You are on the right track!

  • Awesome presentation and explanation on goal setting. Thanks a ton for this.

  • greasy

  • I think a actionable goal has to be realistic and I dont think we need to stess the word realistic cause it is already baked in in the words actionable and achievable.

  • Maintaining is best :) We dont need more or less.

  • what is this?

  • cute girl

  • Thanks this really helped

  • Thx Erica :)

  • Pretty and smart! Double threat! :P Thanks for the great info.

  • "Reslove" issue tickets?

  • SMART: specific, measurable, action-related, realistic, timely.

    pretty much the same thing

  • Erica could you send me this video outside of YouTube. I work for DHS and we need it bad

  • thank u Erica for your details and info on Managment, can u please revise them and type in computer like a professional presentation, while you have a very good presentation skills. Just revise them and make them beutiful like you

  • howmany objectives should you set up ? what do you say about it?

  • Nice job spelling resolve wrong.

  • swot analysis:how to

  • thanks Erica

  • I agree with Erica but I think "R" should still be kept as Realistic not Responsible.

    1. Specific Clear Objectives

    2. Measurable You should be able to measure whether you are meeting the objectives or not.

    3. Achievable - Are the objectives you set, achievable and attainable?

    4. Realistic Be real and honest. Can you realistically achieve the objectives with the resources you have?

    5. Time When by? 2012?

  • It HAS to be actionable. Your 'A' and 'R' are too similar.

I prefer to add E (ecology of the goal) and R (reward of the goal) to make them SMARTER and almost make them like an NLP well formed outcome.

Not sure as I agree about 1-3 years though. If a client came with a 6 month goal I'd still run through the same criteria. and have no issue with that.

  • R should be Relevant

  • @nshahn

I guess 'Realistic' would fall under 'Actionable'

  • Getting most common investors is a very good business plan. Free business plan template from

unitedbizbooks. com/business_pro.php . There are many ways to start but be prepared.Best Wishes

  • @nshahn Steve Jobs prefers to be unrealistic; how do you feel that has worked out for him?

  • Fantastic explanation, thanks for the free consulting :)
