So. Two different videos. Both great for different reasons. The Lord Byron one is a semitone higher than this and hence a tad faster. Guess the recording was on tape, hence tempo and pitch would be related.
For me the Byron one works better: it just drives more and everything sounds that bit tighter. The solo sax screams like an animal: absolute goosebumps! And the drums drive like a train, with baritone sax honking beneath. Total rock'n'roll! Bowie works the androgyny so well. Surreal makeup
He caused a fashion stir wearing a pattern on a pattern. "Clash with Dash" someone wrote. I hope he's ok. He loves to sing to an audience. He said it was his favorite thing to do.

What happened 1983-84?? How did Bowie lose his gift of writing fantastic pop music..?? I just wonder.. Is it because he quit drugs..? Everything he done after 1983 is sooo boring..
That is a good bass! ((good)) ((nice)) feelin glad all over like a super nova! it's my birtday friday nove 14th 2008 hello there mr. bowie! what were you feeling when you wrote this tune'?!
David Robert Haywood Jones I'm only a thin white woman was thursday's child. But I know there's something in the wind. Let me fly away with you. Waiting so long, I've been waiting so long. Come to my waiting arms. Give me more than one caress, satisfy this hungriness. Share my life. Falling in love with me. How I wish you would. With your kiss my life begins.
Bowie is an amazing artist....I remember when his song "lets dance" knocked michael jacksons thriller out of the number 1 spot here in the states in the 80's and I was like thank God....peace
I have to visit this video at least weekly cos otherwise I'll fade away!! He's doing that deep voice, oooooooooooooh swoon!!! OOOH I like the way he says faculty!! I'll go take my medication now!! hahaha!! so fabulous!!
I always thought this WAS the video for "Blue Jean"
Now that I see the other version I still think this one is the best. Love the sax player stopping his hitting on the female audience member long enough to lay his track down!
I love the sax player as well, he's my best mate. I hate to spoil your fun but he cant play a note he was miming as was the rest of them. I was in this video dancing at the front. Im a bit older now!
@bigoldsweet You basterd! You probably got it by this time, you beat me!! (j/k mate!)
Cheers!

Anyone else notice how the mic jumps from "on the stand...in his hand" from scene to scene in the latter part of the video? Kinda funny.
I love this song long time.

There's a few dance moves here that need to be taken outta the basement, like the bass player's....but I still adore the song...

I remember the first time I heard Blue Jean. It was 1983 watching a video program in Japan. The Japanese loved David Bowe in the eighties.

Awesome song!! It's been 25 years since I heard it last. Seems like it's only been 5 minutes. David Bowie at his best as far as I'm concerned.

Not at his worst, a lot of it is political comment,re:80s politics etc:

Bowie at his worst still beats most of the pack into a cocked hat...
Came to this via Ladytron's 'Blue Jeans 2.0'. Check it out to hear some superb radical electronic rock, the kind pioneered by this man in the 70s.
