I see a post up above from one Jack Warshaw dated 23 March 2011.

I'm proud to say I've heard the big man (Christy) singing this both solo + with the great Moving Hearts. I will always maintain this song's sentiments and it's still going on; Syria, North Korea, China to name but just three states. But it's going on nearer home too and we'll sing it so long as it's going on.

I realised he forgot and switched around verses but the audience was so with him it didn't seem to matter in performance. Title and updates on names and places? no problem so long as it helps to get it sung when needed. That's what makes a lasting folksong. "Never Asked for Nothing" on this channel is a song for now. This is incredible! I was at this gig and i was thrilled to witness Christy and Declan perform this song as they did 30 years ago with Moving Hearts. I think Christy got so into the 'vibe' he forgot to sing the last verse 'the death squad can only get through to them if first they can get through to you'. Incedentally, Jack, how do you feel about the fact that Christy changed the title (and some of the lyrics) of your song ???
