@putnamskater Atari really faded away more than "got shot down". Atari rocked out the 2600 (known as the VCS - Video Computer System) before 1982/3 when they released the 5200 which was a flop a multitude of reasons, and then released the 7800 with 8 bit graphics after the NES was released. They just lost the market control slowly over time.
