Great song, but speaking as someone who was there, ''Safety Dance'' was long gone and forgotten by the time BC came out. And no, the song was not about wearing condoms, or as they were called at the time, rubbers. We didn't think much about AIDS in those days. Hell, at that time Haitians were still considered the prime carriers of the disease!

@jellies95 I think 'Safety Dance' was about pogoing - the punk dancing of the 70s and 80s which was basically just jumping up and down violently with your hands by your sides. Eventually it kind of evolved into moshing. Which is kind of ironic cos the original video had morris dancing in it - almost the complete antithesis!

The "safety dance" thing means using protection when having sex. This song comes from the early 80s when AIDS was a huge issue because it was brand new and everybody was freaked out about it and all of the sudden using condoms was a must.

The lyrics are mostly nonsense but a few of the lines make sense; for example:

"We can dance if we want to

As long as we use it, never gonna lose it

Everything'll work out fine"
