@ Ozznize - sometimes the lyrics will print a tamer word because some people get offended too easily. I would bet a hundred bucks that he is singing "fucking" despite what the lyric sheet says. Even Paula Abdul has one says that she clearly sings "fuck" a couple of times, but the lyric sheet says "rock."
i had to check the lyrics for 0:40 because i really thought that he said "i hear the same old fucking reason", although he actually says fourteen. whatever, it will always be "fucking" for me!
always loved this tune as a kid ....i think if this song were edited before the bass solo at 2:50 ...you would hear this on the radio as many times as "hold the line" ....is that your autographed album? thanks for posting...
@densaner77 what u talkin about man? Africa is still a great song hahaha but i know where ur comin from, this is actual rock music, Africa is pretty dam soft.
@Bladerunner1906. Africa is okay I suppose. However it is totally unlike the rest of their work. Apart from Hold the Line radio doesn't appear to play any of their other tunes. Thanks be to Youtube!
@Bladerunner1906 Toto were "pretty damn soft" a lot of the time. Only the first one or two albums had a slightly more rock oriented feel, as soon as "Toto IV" came out, they went more for either ballads, jazz fusion-y driven "rock" tracks (i use the term loosely), or pop songs (stranger in town, straight through the heart).
Though I do like pretty much all of their first 7 albums.
When I was a kid a girl gave me a box full of albums and this one was in there and it was a wonderful experience for me. Not one song on the album is bad, imo. I later found out that the box was her ex boyfriend's, oh well, loser weepers, finders keepers, omg there were some good ones in there!!

I met the girl across the sea,
She saved my life and came with me
A tender night of dark persuasion,
Could be my first and last occasion________

I'll supply the love

Great song! If you listen to the radio you would think the only song Toto released was that bloody awful "Africa".

you are right, there is not one bad song, you can listen to the album from start to finish and not hit skip once.
joffa10 1 year ago
@tpmh37 I'll agree with you there. The first Toto album was excellent from beginning to end. Not a bad song on the whole record...
