@2granny.yes, women were paid less but go look at a seedy ol factory and then a fireside home with happy lil kids and you tell me how could the not have seen it.
@TonicLuv Astaire said that Rita Hayworth was his favorite dance partner, because "she danced with trained perfection and individuality," and while he was complimentary of Ginger Rogers, he did say that before their pairing, she had never danced before and a lot of her dancing was faking dance. She got better, he said, and made it work for the both of them.
@officiallyshane fake dancing? i wish i could fake dance like that!! lol. were they wearing masks with gingers likeness on them?...kinda creepy lol but cute
@officiallyshane ohh! I wasnt trying to be rude just didnt understand. I dont know anything about them i just saw one video and i was hooked. I havent even seen any of the films but i want to now
Ginger's knee sinks are just terrific. Makes you wish that the dance was twice as long. The earlier part of the long sequence (not shown here) has been criticized by three of the major critics on F&G. Pointedly, the segment with Harriet Hoctor, where she makes herself into a piece of saltwater taffy, and kicks herself in the head. Somehow Sandrich should have had Fred and Ginger, not HH, dance to "They Can't Take that Away from Me". The reprise in Barclays was when both were 12 years older.

Well, there it is! Ginger danced as well as Fred, and perhaps even better than Fred.
Any guesses as to their relative salaries for dancing at the same high level?

@jenbunny00 I didn't say it, Fred Astaire did. I think he just meant that she wasn't a dancer. She was an actress who acted like a dancer.
