It was not a meteor, nor was it a UFO. I live in this area, WAVY went on to say the next day that it was a booster staging rocket part 1 that was falling back through the atmosphere. The boom we hear was it breaking the sound barrier. It then crashed into the Atlantic where the Coast Guard recovered it the next day.
