  • Do you have to use a barbless hook when you catch sturgeon? What like weight, rod and reel were you using?

  • They spelled watch WHATCH in the descripion!!!!

  • @0WAVEONWAVE0 you spelt description, DESCRIPION

  • Not being a fisherman (just enjoy watching people fish) I don't understand how any rod could be so strong as to bend that much without cracking and still handle fish that heavy! Freakin awesome!

  • these fish should never be kept, their older then most anglers that catch them.

  • @youspic

I agree i only sportfish i think everyone should trophy fish are stupid we have cameras that is enough for me. only keep the small ones for a fry :)

  • @youspic yea in the recent 3-4 years including this year and next they where totally illigel to almost just catch to if u caught one u had to report it to the fishing n wild life community. they usually couldnt get out there quick enofe so u yourself would have to check the tags if there is one weight length etc. but thats in canada / alberta

  • LOL this gut is a dumbass. 10 foot LOL, big around as a 55gallon drum LOL, 400LBS?????? WTF every thing this guy said was retarded that fish was huge but no where near as big as any of his descriptions what a noob.

  • there is no bigger disappointment than hoping your gonna catch a pike or a pickerel and then u get one of those beasts (other than a catfish)...until u eat it

  • nice video

  • in canada u cant keep sturgeon cause we tryin to safe the speices

  • u know u r only allowed to keep one sturgeon per year no matter how many u catch thats for wisconsin im not sure about other states

  • i like da fishy

  • i bet you guys had a hell of a time fighting that fish like 2 weeks ago i was just out at astoria orgeon past rocky point by the sand flats right in the middle and i had a sturgeon bite and when i pulled it up it scaled in at like 10ft

it took like 20 mins to pull in the fish is twice the size of me Lol Sturgeons are good fishing tho

  • when i went i caught thirty with my bare hands in a shallow river because of drought

  • it would suck fishing with that guy, one of those know it all's.....

  • What an odd-looking fish.

  • me my dad and my brother r going to go on a nature trip fishing with nets for sturgeon . when they r caught we tag them with a transmitter and release.

  • Everyone here, just get a huge Cup of Shut De Fuck Up & chill....

  • 2:47 gotta love carbon fiber elasticity

  • 55gal. my ass....

  • @TheChrisSchmitty more like 54 right?

  • @TheChrisSchmitty No kidding. I live 5 minutes from the Fraser River in BC and I fish for sturgeon all the time. I have seen many 8 foot fish that looked much larger than the one on this video and 400 pounds?!?!?! Please. Even with video the fish tales continue.

  • Do they have 4 eyes?

  • this is why im scared to go tubing. Once I fall of the tube, I have to wait for the boat to pick me up while im in the middle of the lake by myself!!

These fishes will tickle my feet

  • @joeyisballer

Sturgeon stick to the bottom of the lake. Fish will come nowhere near you once they see that big of a splash. Don't worry.

I've lived on my lake all my life, I've never had a fish attack me.

  • @KittyRokher hahhahah its the gar I worry about!

  • @joeyisballer

Gar won't do anything. They don't even come near my pier anymore, considering I spear every single one I find.

  • In Romania is prohibited to catch sturgeon's.Nice catch.Wire stretched fisherman's :)

  • Great video on oversize catch & release...And a wonderful old fish to boot.

  • noobs thei let she go

  • wow this sturgeon species can grow up to 6 meters (19′ 7″) long, being as large as most great white sharks, nice catch btw,

  • show the girl some fucking credit!!!!!!!!!!!

  • actually not even 6 ft looking back at the vid, maybe 5ft

  • not even 400 pounds even though the guy says it's 400 to 500 pounds, an 8ft one that is around 80 years old would be around 300 pounds and this guy looks around 6ft at most

  • i heard that these fish are known to attack and eat small adults, children, and pets

  • were gonna need a bigger boat

  • Oh yeah she swims away nice work mr. and mrs.

  • i would make it suck my weener first then let it go

  • 1:08 My most hated type of fisherman: The know it all commentator

  • Omg that sturgeon was huge ,nice fish wat did u use to catch him

  • @ 4:25 I totally agree that's the right thing to do once you catch a sturgeon this HUGE, just let him go back to the deep. I keep all other kinds of fish to eat, but this MONSTER deserves to go free and live as long as possible. That is true major respect for nature and a fish of this SIZE that has been around since the prehistoric days. He deserves to go back home in peace!

  • I live in chico on the sacramento river and i always fish for salmon and striper on it and i never fail to catch a fish, but its always some random sturgeon chillin on my hook when i get it in. I have never caught a salmon or a striped bass.

  • nice catch good job

  • a sturgoen is one of those guys who cuts you up when you sick

  • Nice Video!! We Hired Kevin for some King Salmon in Tillamook Bay also. He is a great, friendly guide. Gonna have to get out and catch some Sturgeon too it looks like :)

  • shit. i wana go sturgent fishing

  • The camera dont lie ! That fish was 5 feet tops.

  • whats the song

  • oh they have those at the lake at my cottage! it makes me afraid to go in the deep water !!! :$

  • nice fishing i am suprised you guys brought that in

  • nice

  • little bittie my ass that was ginormass

  • Thats got to be one kick ass line to take in a fricking Sturgeon.

  • That fish is NOWHERE near as big around as a 55 gallon barrel.

  • amen to that brother if the fish is older than you LET IT GO it pisses me off to no extent when people keep and kill these beautiful fish just wish there were more fisherman like you

  • HOW LONG WAS THE FIGHT?

  • ouuuuuu !!! nice one ...when you catch a sturgeon its always exiting but the moment is magic cuz sturgeon are so smooth those fish are calm and peacefull they are like " nice whats up buddy you catch me its cool " so when i catch one i put 2-3 worms in is mouth and i let him go ... always release your fish ;) nice summer guys

  • Every Year that a sturgeon lives it grows 1 inch. So a 10ft sturgeon is 120 years old.

  • id like to put my corndog in that fish's sideays sloppy joe

  • that was cool. good music too

  • Even if it is catch and release, how would you like to be dragged along by a hook stuck in the flesh of your mouth or throat? You would have to be purblind to think this practice humane.

  • the sturgeon looks like it has 4 eyes on 4:09

  • that pole is crazy.

  • the sturgeon in the lower columbia can grow to 16 feet

there is a slot limit you can only take the ones that are 41" to 54" fork length

anything bigger or smaller you have to release

they like herring and sandshrimp and a 5oz pyramid sinker

the really big ones dont fight like the smaller ones they just roll over and let you take the hook out

  • Way to hook em in the lip! good shit

  • song?

  • I got a kick outta the dude saying "you can fit a basketball or football in his mouth". lol

  • caviar?

  • i caught a baby one of these to @blakeandcrap

  • well done for NOT gaff-hooking it...5stars

  • @loooodoooog

In Oregon Sturgeon that large must be released without harming them. They can't even be removed from the water for a photo.

  • astoria is probably the most fun sturgeon fishing i have ever done. nice sturgeon.

    Tight lines!

  • wtf??? four eyes?

  • nice sturgeon

  • oh my gash

  • good job , i released a 6" PLUS one recently in SF bay . finally it is mandatory to release these big ones in cali ..

now if we could just get rid of the poachers /game hogs , we might have a decent fishery again .!

  • hah. i woulda felll in if i was tryin to real in that

  • that thing is gigantic!

  • i cought one of these likw 2 years ago. good thing it was a baby

  • I always release sturgeon no questions asked

  • if you didnt realease that beaultiful monster shame on you

im a big fisherman and i am against keeping anything endangered

  • sturgeons are endangered!!! "big fisherman" !!!

  • i hope they were released

  • @jtboll00 he said he did

  • yea i read it after i posted.. sorry.. i wish there was fishing like this where i live

  • endangered species !!

  • you can get permits to fish them

some states just allow it freely

  • i cought one of these when i was in hells canyon white waterrafting. idk how big it was tho.. it was on the snake river

  • For the record, they were keeper sturgeon fishing, In the estuary we use light rods as we fish shallow water and it is much more fun on light gear. When targeting oversize we use heavy gear..... 100lb line, 200lb leader, 300lb swivels.... 12/0 hooks..... know what you are talking about before you post.

  • THIS is SHAMEFUL. Salmon rods and small salmon-sized reels and 45 minute to 1-hour times to land oversized fish of 300 to 40 pounds. A total disgrace. Taking money to allow under-equipped anglers to dink around with the brood stock of the fishery, day after day. Get some fighting belts and some gimbal-butted,roller-guide equipped big-game tackle and bring these fish in PROMPTLY on 130 pound class tackle. Using salmon rods and salmon sized reels for this is disgraceful.

  • gtfo. =]

  • yeah your right... but im pritty sure they werent specigfically fishing for sturgeons..

  • HELLS NO

  • Have you ever thought that maybe they were actually fishing salmon and just happened to of snagged a big 10 foot sturgion. Sometimes you don't expect things to happen, but they just do. I mean would you rather them cut the line and leave this old fish with a hook jammed in his lip? No you wouldn't. Think before you rant on about uninformative bullshit please.

  • totally agree, i use salmon rods and reels for catfish not sturgeon...

  • you are really not a real fisherman if you are saying that crap, obviously they want to have some fun fighting a big fish with little pole, i use a 8"6 medium light g loomis rod with 30lbs line with 250 yrs and i catch sturgeon and sharks with it, it doesnt matter how big or strong your set up is, its how you fight the fish and lookin at your comment doesnt seem like you are one of those that likes to catch big fish with light gear

  • woot i lvoe that real tekota 600lc i have 1 i still have not caught a fish with that real but i love how its light and looks good and very very sturdy

  • Good example of catch and release.

  • Good Job

  • Sturgeon Fishing is so much fun! I caught a 5'' and a half foot white sturgeon, on the fraser, Just a BEAUTTTTY!!!

  • When i went sturgeon fishing on the fraser river, i was about 12 and i caught a 6 foot, 100 lbs. white sturgeon. SO much fun, took me about 10-15 mins to reel it in. This is a GIANT though. My god.

  • i went fishing for these on the snake river, i caught a 91 pound 6 foot one. tons of fun, took about 20 minutes to reel in though. radiculously strong fish

  • i went fishing for these...it was so much fun...all tho the biggest won i cought was only 21 lbs....it was a blast tho......first one ever

  • thats huge what do you catch it with. i live in maine i was in the scarborough river and we saw sturgeon jumping left and right and we just didnt know how to catch them. and maine the past couple of seasons for strippers have really sucked i may be looking to catch something else until the stripers are in strong again any suggests on how to catch these monsters we call sturgeon

  • beef liver rotten parts of a chicken rotten any type of meat .. worms rotten fish .. i would try puttin beef liver out in the sun FOR 2 days it might stink but the reward might be huge in bc we use liver 2 day old a get 200+ POUNDER THATS SMALL ONES BUT GOOD FIGHT!! .. THATS PINNER IN CANADA BC THEY CATCH 15 FOOTERS PLUS .. 2000+ POUNDS ALL THE TIME!! BIGGEST 4 ME IS 17FOOT 756.6 POUNDS SUMMER OF 2005 BUT STILL THATS SMALL WHEN FISHIN IN FRAISER RIVER B.C WORLD LARGEST WHITE STURGON POPULATION

  • I have fished Bonnie before and pulled up some 9 footers. I think you might be telling some fish tails there. That one was definitely hog..pass 6ft. tops though 80lbs, Cuz when I pulled up a 9footer..I to stick my arm in it's mouth to get the hook. and we broke ancor for 45min. Good fish..not a 400 or 500lbs. great catch and release on your part. ty for the vid

  • incredible, your very good and have respect for animals and nature so i have respect for you too.

  • kewl

  • Great catch!!!

    Great release!!!

Keep having fun...best line, "I don't kill anything older than me." That kind of respect for nature is an indicator of a true sportsman.

  • @athom50 what he doesnt kill anything older than him? so does that means he kills babies?

at least old animals have had a full life

  • wow wat kind of fishing pole do they use? its so small but strong enough to hold a ten foot sturgeon

  • nice strugoen

  • That sturgeon looks to be 300 lbs. For a gray sturgeon, it is pretty much as big as it will get. Beluga sturgeons are much larger. The biggest one I have seen is over 1200 lbs.

  • The thing I find most admirable, is the true, heart felt dedication to conservation this guide exhibits here...Setting the stage for human enjoyment, but also making a statement about the health of this spectacular animal....

    Brilliant video

  • HOLY SHAT !!!!!!! LOL NICE CATCH MAN :)

  • holy shit......... that things huge!

  • WOW~

  • that thing is fricken enormous

  • people unti whaling, why no one unti fishing?

  • nice sturgeon you got there.,...

  • What kind of line where you using, what kind of leader, and hook size, it must take some serious skill to bring in a fish this big because I know for a fact someone who does not know what they are doing would have done a number of things wrong that would have snapped the rod, fucked the reel up, or popped the line. You guys are an experienced bunch. nice fishing. BTW that is some crazy line because I know the fish is a good 350-400 pounds but that line is nowhere near 200lb. NICE Skills

  • The rest of the video is availabl to view at our home web site on the videos and films page.

  • @SSSDiaz7 ...Its a MIRICLE that dumb chick didnt snap that line and rod !...She had absolutely NO IDEA what she was doing .

  • how did that rod not break ?/

  • fibers

  • Holy crap that thing is huge...

  • Dang that rod bends

  • thaqts a fresh water shark lol jkit look like a shark a lil bit at first though

  • I have a question ! When you release the fish like that, how did you took the hook out so fast ? or you only cut the line and release the fish with the hook still hooking on the fish's mouth ?The fish goona die if the hook still on it ?

  • The hooks are barbless [by law/regulation] and slip right out. If the hook was left in the mouth, it would not likely kill the fish...it would rust out in a few weeks in the higly corrosive saltwater.

  • i would think thewy left it in those things have shark like mouths andthe lure they used was like 5 inchis.........even when small fish hit a lure they often inhale the thing way down which makes it hard to get it out without harming the fish.....but its all in how aggressive the hit is that determines how far down the hook is but with fish this size, its almost guaranteed to go right down the throat........plus imagine if it was just hooked on the outside of his mouth...thats 400 pounds on it

  • turn off the ringer plz

  • Astoria is in Oregon!

  • That rod was UUUU'd!!!

  • Damn !!!! thats a huge sturgeon !!!!! fucking awsome !!!!!

  • where was this at

  • stupid i seen some that are 1000 pounds

  • sturgeon do grow that huge however they are anadromous fish so there are usually only small ones in lakes and larger ones in the ocean and a sturgeon this size in a lake is considered big

  • sturgeon do live in the ocean they are freshwater fish. they get the biggest in rivers

  • damg that was huge..imma do that someday fish and just let the fish go afterwards on less it dies vefore it goes bbak

  • that thing is a HOG

  • the music dosn't really fit the situation i mean i love fishing as much as the next guy but um speed metal...no

  • Correct. Not only that but our trip with KN TF was during the "no" retention catch and release only season. This takes place after the retention season closes near astoria.

  • ok in oregon and washington the fish have to be 42" to 60" to be able to keep and you kill these fish its against the law

  • They live out of water for a while, get your pictures quickly. The fish will be just fine.

If I question the size of a fish, I just tether it to the boat while its still alive and wait to get back to the launch. If no-one is there. It might just go home with me. BUT, local Police will bust you. So if you dont want to get in hot water, dont even think about it.

  • holy snap

  • nicely done to release it. it will live for another catch. big!!

  • you could get much money for that fish, but you let it go away, youre good guys :D

  • 400-500LB almost 100 years old. Dam thats cool. Im going fishing with my dad all this week in oregon. We will be catching those =D

  • cool...u let it live :)

  • The films are on our feature films page. About 25 minutes long with double and tripples on keepers release during C and R season in Oregon. I also release a 7 footer in the film. New clip coming in a week you will not believe!

  • Check out the rest of this killer film at my big website on the films page. Astoria Oregon

  • i want to go sturgeon fishing now come on lets go ppl whos with me

  • that rod is hella flexible.

  • y cant you keep it?

  • Its against the law lol. Because sturgeon are a rare species.

  • oh ok

  • it's against the law for american sturgeon, but not other types. plus it was pretty cool they let it live. =)

  • Good ol total fishermen.. lol they are fun down there when you are keeper fishing with light gear...

  • i can cacth a bigger on then that

  • congratuation

  • wow nice fish. I just went last weekend, and landed a nine footer. Great job.

  • beautiful release

  • what a waste of good meal!

  • true dat

  • man what is that rod and reel you are using cause that is one bIGGaSS fish...and looks like that rod can take hella stress

  • thats nor cal right there "hella" love it..
