This song reminds me of high school me and my girls we thought we had it going on, party over here, party over there, safe, hot summer in Sacramento. I am happy to hear it today and still "feel the same ol way", yes I am running the race even today, a smile is on my face. And I like the end yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, reminds me of Maze.

My uncle was a Earth, Wind & Fire fanatic and I remember all the fun times I had eating Pillsbury cookie dough and crushed graham crackers & milk till we dropped, dang those were the good ole days!!!!!!
ain't it funny how you can grow up with some these classics and forget the name of them because you haven't heard them in years? well that happened to me with this one until i heard it on everybody hates chris. now i can't forget it and never will.
I slept on this back in the day. "On Your Face" has to be added to my list of EWF faves along with "September," "That's the Way of the World," "Reasons" (live), "Let's Groove," and "Love's Holiday."
my dad played this soo much i thought he was downstairs producing the music himself he loved this group so much and as a child i didnt understand the quality now i listen to it with a special fondness for my dad he gave his childre n the gift of the love of music
@MegaJuicyjuice Well call me your dad's co-producer! lol. I've played EWF's songs a million times over throughout the years. In 'Drumline' the EWF halftime show was my fav part. I LOVED the rendition of 'In the stone'. No lie, I replayed it so many times the movie broke and would hang up at that part. I had to go buy me another one :-) Their's is music for the ages and for all ages. I raised my kids (young adults now) on it and they like and appreciate it to this day.
I understand your pain. My uncle loved this song too. He died at the age of 16 from leukemia. My aunt and I love this group and every time we play their songs, we think of him and we smile remembering those great times we shared together as kids holding our Barbies and my uncle with his GI Joe.
I know it is a Hollywood Shuffle, but if J. Timberlake grew back his blondfro and remade this track as is (verbatum) I think it would bounce and introduce e w f to a whole new decade of fans. The song bounces timelessly and the falsetto of JT is similar when he is at his best.
My mom bought the "Spirit" album when she was finishing up high school. She still has the original vinyl. BTW, I was looking for the original track (On Your Face) after hearing Queen Pen's "Party Ain't A Party" back in the late '90s. Good thing it's on You Tube. Thanx 4 posting this!
i've been lovin this song for years, but never knew the name of it. it was on the radio sometime last wk so i called my mom & let her hear it & she told me the name.. so glad i found it!
@MrSwagga78 Yeah, I've always liked this song because way back in the day, MC Hammer sampled this. I heard this on Michael Baisden's show maybe last week, and decided to look it up. Love this.
Thanks for posting this I have been searching for this song for 12 years I first heard it overseas, and i remember the rapper Queen Pen sampled, I love this song,
One Of their Funkiest jams I can't remember the title but some of the lyric' were " we're gonna fight ,gotta get higher ,Better come down.......if anybody knows what I'm talking about please load it up and sling it
Gotta do better than that if you want help (unless you figured it out already - in which case, share it with us). What album was it on, what year, ballad or up tempo? Are you sure you even have the right group? Some folks who claim to be a fan of EWF, quote Kool & the gang or Parliament jams. What's up?
It's Summer of 1976 and Stevie's droppin his biggest LP, EWF are at their peak, Parliament/George Clinton have stormed radio, George Benson's gonna grab the Grammy Record of the Year, Donna Summer is avoiding a sophomore slump, Chaka Khan/Rufus are in peak form, Minnie Riperton's in peak form, Commodores issue the 1st great funk/rap/gospel ballad "Just 2 B Close 2 U', and we're even given props to blue-eyed soul from Boz Scaggs (Low Down) & Wild Cherry (Play That Funky Music) !
Don't forget about "Framptom Comes Alive", "The Brothers Johnson" debut LP, "Car Wash" (song, LP and Movie), "Brother to Brother", and of course "Gratitude".
I was 2years old when "On Your Face" came out but the funny thing is I remember EWF's spirit album because of the bright orange album color. Thats how I got orange as my favorite color. Still embedded in my mind after all these years. I was small enough to actually sit my whole body on their album cover.
@AvlDao Man, what an awesome time for R&B music! I'd love to go back in time!
