  • I love this song ! I can never play it only once. It is so uplifting , powerful words and encouraging. I have used it many mornings to get me on my way, when life attempts to still my joy. It seems like this is the least played though for whatever reason out of all their songs, Real Music!

  • one of EWF's most powerful songs....emotion...heart...soul...love this song

  • My uncle was a Earth, Wind & Fire fanatic and I remember all the fun times I had eating Pillsbury cookie dough and crushed graham crackers & milk till we dropped, dang those were the good ole days!!!!!!

  • ain't it funny how you can grow up with some these classics and forget the name of them because you haven't heard them in years? well that happened to me with this one until i heard it on everybody hates chris. now i can't forget it and never will.

  • words cant even describe this joint!! i play it to death!

  • great cut hate to hear yo loss blaqsoul hang in their keep ya head up

  • I slept on this back in the day. "On Your Face" has to be added to my list of EWF faves along with "September," "That's the Way of the World," "Reasons" (live), "Let's Groove," and "Love's Holiday."

  • great message my bois

  • Łona - Złota Rybka :D watch?v=TFlwfBTWIlc

  • my dad played this soo much i thought he was downstairs producing the music himself he loved this group so much and as a child i didnt understand the quality now i listen to it with a special fondness for my dad he gave his childre n the gift of the love of music

  • @MegaJuicyjuice Well call me your dad's co-producer! lol. I've played EWF's songs a million times over throughout the years. In 'Drumline' the EWF halftime show was my fav part. I LOVED the rendition of 'In the stone'. No lie, I replayed it so many times the movie broke and would hang up at that part. I had to go buy me another one :-) Their's is music for the ages and for all ages. I raised my kids (young adults now) on it and they like and appreciate it to this day.

  • This is the jam, I LOVE THIS SONG

  • I understand your pain. My uncle loved this song too. He died at the age of 16 from leukemia. My aunt and I love this group and every time we play their songs, we think of him and we smile remembering those great times we shared together as kids holding our Barbies and my uncle with his GI Joe.

  • I know it is a Hollywood Shuffle, but if J. Timberlake grew back his blondfro and remade this track as is (verbatum) I think it would bounce and introduce e w f to a whole new decade of fans. The song bounces timelessly and the falsetto of JT is similar when he is at his best.

  • Not even one of their big pop hits and still one of their best ever.

  • this jam comes true all the time run your race keep smiling face:0!

  • Chicago thanks you Maurice! We loved the great music you provided for the world, and the hometown.

  • @lowendfella you mean memphis!

  • @oldschoolsituationz No! I mean Southside of Chi-Town. Maurice formed the group in 1969. He orginally was a session drummer for "Chess records".

  • sory for your loss man

  • Just an amazing group.

  • sad and power story blaqsoul

  • My mom bought the "Spirit" album when she was finishing up high school. She still has the original vinyl. BTW, I was looking for the original track (On Your Face) after hearing Queen Pen's "Party Ain't A Party" back in the late '90s. Good thing it's on You Tube. Thanx 4 posting this!

  • try "could it be right" from 83

  • The best music of my life! This reminds me of growing up on the South Side of Chicago in the 70s. Great memories!

  • I heard this on Everybody Hates Chris;

Took a while to find, but I love it!

  • @Jahki1 me too just found it today

  • Julius at the DMV was hilarious in that episode.

  • E W F forever

  • i've been lovin this song for years, but never knew the name of it. it was on the radio sometime last wk so i called my mom & let her hear it & she told me the name.. so glad i found it!

  • I heard thi song on the Micheal Baisden radio show a few weeks ago and fell in love with this cut.

  • @MrSwagga78 Yeah, I've always liked this song because way back in the day, MC Hammer sampled this. I heard this on Michael Baisden's show maybe last week, and decided to look it up. Love this.

  • same here

  • @npscholes What was the name of MC Hammer's song that was sampled from this?

  • Same name: watch?v=bZI8kGG_EjY

  • Thanks for posting this I have been searching for this song for 12 years I first heard it overseas, and i remember the rapper Queen Pen sampled, I love this song,

  • ty :) restsed my soul

  • One Of their Funkiest jams I can't remember the title but some of the lyric' were " we're gonna fight ,gotta get higher ,Better come down.......if anybody knows what I'm talking about please load it up and sling it

  • Gotta do better than that if you want help (unless you figured it out already - in which case, share it with us). What album was it on, what year, ballad or up tempo? Are you sure you even have the right group? Some folks who claim to be a fan of EWF, quote Kool & the gang or Parliament jams. What's up?

  • IM wrong! I have 13 albums by them.Maybe I can look for it.A good way to spend a Sat. morning!

  • I think it's from EWF earlier work before Devotion...

  • im only eleven and i knw like all their songs on bass

  • Bless your heart! How sweet...God bless

  • It's Summer of 1976 and Stevie's droppin his biggest LP, EWF are at their peak, Parliament/George Clinton have stormed radio, George Benson's gonna grab the Grammy Record of the Year, Donna Summer is avoiding a sophomore slump, Chaka Khan/Rufus are in peak form, Minnie Riperton's in peak form, Commodores issue the 1st great funk/rap/gospel ballad "Just 2 B Close 2 U', and we're even given props to blue-eyed soul from Boz Scaggs (Low Down) & Wild Cherry (Play That Funky Music) !

    We're Rollin !

  • Don't forget about "Framptom Comes Alive", "The Brothers Johnson" debut LP, "Car Wash" (song, LP and Movie), "Brother to Brother", and of course "Gratitude".

  • I was 2years old when "On Your Face" came out but the funny thing is I remember EWF's spirit album because of the bright orange album color. Thats how I got orange as my favorite color. Still embedded in my mind after all these years. I was small enough to actually sit my whole body on their album cover.

  • You nailed it bro!! That was a unique period in time musically 76-77. I remember all of those artist, albums and songs!

  • Oh I am feeling you on this one so true

  • @AvlDao Man, what an awesome time for R&B music! Don't forget the Emotions released their legendary "Flowers" album, Bootsy Collins has just released his first solo effort with "Stretching Out In A Rubber Band" and New Birth has just released their best album ever "Love Potion". I'd love to go back in time!

  • @AvlDao ........Damn........that was the Year...wan't it. In fact....from 1966 - 1980 the music was OUT of THIS WORLD!!! My God!

    PEACE

  • @AvlDao Great recap of the era's music. That was when I saw Earth, Wind, & Fire perform for the first time. I've been to many concerts before and since, but that has to be the best concert I've ever attended.

  • @AvlDao AMEN!!!!

  • does anyone remember Mc Hammers version of this song! It was pretty good for it's time

  • I remember being in high school in the late 70's, Jones High School would have dances after the football games after OakRidge stomp dat booty...LOL Class of '79 Pioneer...HOLLA

  • Now this is music I can feel proud of as a Black Man. Not to say that Hip-Hop is all bad but it surely does not measure up to R&B of the 60's and 70's. Nor did it pit us against each other the way HH does. Just look at the fool TI. What a waste!

Damn Sugar Hill Gang but I loved it at the time.

Young Brothas, please pick up and INSTRUMENT! PEACE

  • @ddesign63 My band has done that. Google The Cool Band. We got some music that is trying to get back to just being real and about something.

  • @qthegreat3,

Maaaaaaaaaan, just checked it out on your website. Almost brought tears to my eyes. Now that is real Talent! Hope you Cats stay true to what you are doing currently. There is enough of the other S#!T out there. Your joints are truely original! Thank You

    PEACE

  • Always had one of the tightest Bands since day one, Verdine is My Bass hero! since 1972 I have been down with EWF, miss Maurices voice, that was the OLd school EWF sound! anyone have EWF Basslines taped? and yes I remeber rollin in my 88 round the So-side of Chitown with eight track blastin, sweatin cause the A/C went a diff way yo, but the Honeys were there! lol down at 31st st. beach everythang was everythang n cool back in the day! what happened Bro! to the Southcommon crew, to my niece Mooki

  • When my cousins and I were young and had just started driving - we would play this tape on rides we would take to the county to go see our grandmother. MAN OH MAN - those were the days, HUH? How I miss that - I barely see my cousins anymore. We have all branched out with our separate lives. Man, I'm gonna plan a get together and just play some of this old school so we can sit around and reminisce!!

  • take me too!!! we cant go back..but we can shout out to each other today...as we are doing...peace

  • This sort of chilling get up party song for me, this group's music is genuine enough to lasts for decades to come. Big ups to EWF for holding down back then, now, and always, because that's what real good music do, last foreva.

  • sad,but true, my brothers uncle bought this album overto the house & played this song over & over at least 5 straight times, when it first came out. i didnt understand why at the times i was 13 yrs old, a month later he commited suicide. later i read the lyrics on the album, he was crying out for help, but didnt tell anyone unbelievable

  • sorry for your loss,,,,,,song were made to savor the memories ,,,,,sorry for what happened.........blaqsoul2.......

  • my condolences...i too played this song during trying times...its a song that you play sometimes when back is against the wall...so sorry for your loss...i sure i speak for all those of the 70s set when i say peace bro/sis, there is an afterlife, seek it by obeying the truth of God and you will see your uncle again.

  • @blaqsoul2 So sorry for your loss.

  • @blaqsoul2 Those silent cries are so loud we don't hear them at times.....music the key to everything.....One Love

  • @blaqsoul2

    So sorry for your loss

  • @blaqsoul2 -mann! Sorry to hear that. My uncle commited suicide in 1979 as well. But he was on the influence of PCP.

  • @blaqsoul2 so you were born in 1971?

  • @blaqsoul2 I'm so sorry for your lost. I hope that more people start paying attention to they're love ones when they do cry out for help, so many times we don't pay attention. Or we wait for someone else to step in to fix what's broken. Your comment touched my heart & my prayers goes out to U & yours. I hope your family won't have to deal w/ this situation EVER again!...U take care & God Bless!!!!!! This song is beautiful & it reminds me of good times, it's sad it reminds u of sad 1's.

  • @blaqsoul2 so sad for your lost ones been there but when you play this now it's all good

  • CHECK OUT THESE VERY TRUE LYRICS...

  • We'll never see or hear a group like Earth Wind & Fire again and that's the shame of it. Our young artists are lazy and don't work at their craft nearly as much as these guys did. Pay attention young people and learn....

  • You aint NEVA lied!!!!!

  • This is a well sampled song. Good, clean, relaxing and fun music from a great group that has lasted almost 40 years!

  • I used to do DJ parties. I remember when Queen Pen's "A Party Ain't A Party" came out... I would flip back & forth from her version to this. Blew people away with it.

  • i like this. thanks for uploading. This is real music!!!
