  • LMFAO...Ebay engine experts on here. How is a motor "more of a chevy INTERNALLY"? LMFAO. Just something magically inside the engine that makes it a Chevy? And for the ebay engine experts information, Mondello and Oldsmobile performance have stroker cranks now for 455's that make them upwards of 500 inches. They've had them for several years. And the DRCE "IS" a chevy engine cast by the Olds racing division. Completely based on a chevy with a cute Olds logo on it for names sake.

  • all parts were made on your custom order or some were off shelf?

  • @DoriFord Kind of a mix of both. There is nothing factory stock except the block. Everything else is off the shelf aftermarket or custom. Most of what is off the shelf has been modified some.

  • sick engine, so this is just a 455 bored out to a 500? i could be wrong, but didn't Olds make a 500 cube big-block from the factory, or was that just caddilac?

  • Olds never made anything bigger than the 455 unless you count the 500 ci. DRCE and that is/was used in many forms of motorsports, particularly NHRA drag racing. It was actually more of a big block Chevy internally, but was designed by Oldsmobile engineers and had Oldsmobile cast into the block.

  • Yes this is just a 455 bored and stroked 500 in.³

  • sick. have you seen the photo-montage video of all the kickass experimental Olds engines on here? all-aluminum, quad-cam 455. revved up to like 8,900 or some crazy number like that with about 600hp. check it out, it's in my favorites.

  • that's bad ASS MOTER.I have a 1971 cutlass 's' it's get a sbc 409 it make's 450 hp and 550 tq it still needs more work not there yet

  • boo,chevy in a olds.

  • @KJBPSkipper It is not a Chevy engine.

  • what is this thing ?

  • It's 850hp, 500 ci stock block Olds (originaly a 455).

  • thanks but whats it used for ?

  • It goes in my '67 442 drag car. It's ran 9.06 @ 148 so far. There's more to come...

You can see it in my other videos.

  • thanks brother ..

i will be watching from now on

  • That is wassup! That hurt any bowtie, elephant, or horse! LOL!

  • Dimensions are 4.4 stroke, 4.25 bore. Cam is .800" lift, 315-330 duration, Batten heads, dry sump oil system, it's now on alcohol. Oil issues?? We restricted the top end to keep more oil on the crank. We did notice we "polished" two of the main bearings. It may have been because it was a little lean before the current carb work. Oh yeah, we push a bunch of oil through it too, lol. Don't do that with a stock capacity oil pan, you'll suck it dry.

Still in the shop getting painted. 8's are coming.

  • That sounded great! What's the dimensions, cam, cam timing, etc. Did you use Mondello parts or use another supplier...? And how did the bearings hold up?

  • whats been done to address the oil issues of the 455 block???

  • wow! amazing! over 100 passes?!?!?! goddamn i need you on MY team!

  • all i can say is i am VERY jealous! keep her together and keep her on the track!

  • Thanks DJ. It's in the shop now getting a couple updates and checking the bearings to see how it held up to over 100 passes in half a season.
