i'm the executive director of deweycox 's french fan club and i can tell you here in france we love him personnaly i prefer the cocaine period when he sing fast
I actually put this movie right up there with Spinal Tap as the two best music spoof movies ever, and they both have great music too. This movie is growing stronger every day into legendary cult classic status.
@ObiOneGinobili Certainly. The original session reels of The Beach Boys recording their various albums in the 60's were bootlegged in the 1990's and one particularly famous bit is a tape of the vocal overdub session for 'Help Me Rhonda' with Murray Wilson in the control room, drunk and belligerant. He constantly berates the group and two of the most quoted phrases from that tape are "Brian,I'm A genius too" and "Mike, you're flatting" (meaning he thinks Mike Love is not singing in tune).
@ObiOneGinobili No problem,my pleasure. Here is alink to a Youtube vid with the dialogue. It's annoying cause it has looped music dubbed on it but you'll hear the legendary phrase at the 0:58 mark.
"Dewey"....?"are you sayin you dont need us anymore"?..........."not unless you can open your mind......and learn to play the fuckin thermin"hahahahaha i didnt know what a thermin was till i googled it and started roaring when i saw it.
@amused2deathh Exactly; this is supposed to be like when Brian Wilson was workin' on his "Smile" album for years; then he went nuts and had a nervous breakdown, and put it on hold for decades. He just released it a few years ago; and my brother has it. It's pretty good..............DEFINITELY different..............but good.
Alongside "Piggy In The Middle" by the Rutles, and Nigel Planer's version of "Hole In My Shoe",an on-target parody of psychedelic/orchestral/grossly overblown,full-of-itself art rock of the late 60's!
The strings, wood, and didgeridoos are fine, but I think it still needs more cowbell!

It's awesome, and proof that fake overindulgence and a fake LSD song can truly be better than anything produced today.

This is not a good song. It like five songs on top of each other at the same time.

I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be Brian Wilson. Dewey Cox goes through phases and becomes Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, etc. Brian Wilson for sure

Love this movie, never heard the intro of this song so long, it's great.

Yeah, the first part of the song is only heard in the director's cut of the movie. The scene about this song is *much* longer in that one.
