  • The 66 driver reported "unable to get traction power". No doubt he left the engine running so that its compressor would maintain main res. And power the cab heaters!

  • get that sent to locomaster profiles

  • @darrelhendrie will do at some point hopefully

  • yes, that is probably the best working of the year :p

  • A freight would be unusual on the Medway Valley anyway, 4Exx would indicate a freight heading for the Eastern Region and this was heading the wrong way (De-icers are 6Xxx I think). Didn't notice whether the EDs were on electric but suspect they were with 3200hp on electric compared to 1200hp on diesel? 2x ED = 1x 66. Just glad someone caught it.

  • @1974kelvo Well done. Ta for stating obvious. It failed near Sevenoaks, and in order to get it back to Tonbridge for the night, it ran via Grove Park / Lee / Dartford / Strood / Maidstone

  • @465fan No need to be sarcastic, I was just replying to the person who asked whether the videoer knew what he was filming - possibly the last thing you would expect to see unless they knew someone in our Control or just extremely lucky. Quite a circuit to get it home though, there's no other way i can think of without changing ends.

  • Was wondering whether the vid person knew in advance what he was filming. Might have been oh deicers, oh deicers and ed, omg deicers and ed and 66, omg omg deicers ed 66 and freight :)

  • 66 718 failed - EDs providing traction power and dragging the 66 + load, all being driven from the GLVs. Proper Southern flexibility!!

  • Eh????

  • I thought the 66 was under power too, although it was reported to have failed with engine problems. Not sure how an ED can control a class 66 though?

  • Amazing combination - saw it go through dartford. Surely the first time an EMU has ever lead a freight train.

  • Superb! JAW DROPPING!!

  • This is brilliant.

  • THAT IS RARE! A TEST TRAIN BEING PUSHED BY A GYPSUM? METRONET SHED! HOLY COW. LIKE + FAV!!!

  • @zaccee1996 Nope - 73s, running as 5Z73 from Eastleigh - Tonbridge with the GLVs (which are deicing) rescued the failed 66 and containers near Tonbridge. So the work is being done by the two 73s.

  • @465fan The 66 is defo on power

  • @HSTPaul slightly wrong - the 66 is just turned on - its not being used to take power

  • I know. I was just relaxing with the staff, and 4E19 popped up at Strood

  • MY LORD THATS RARE
