I saw a van outside our local supermarket with 'specialists in cleaning gum' or something like that on the side, and three employees with steam thingies working inch by inch on the pavement doing just that!

I don't chew gum much, but when I do I always dispose of it by wrapping it and putting it in a bin (or swallowing it!) So gross to spit it out like that! Even if it does make patterns lol!

Singapore had an interesting solution to this - they banned chewing gum totally in 1992.

The US (lobbied by Wrigley) recently forced them to concede somewhat as part of the Free Trade Agreement so you can now buy 'medicinal' gum from a chemist who will write your name down when you buy it.
