They were good friends in real life. Her cancer was the main reason they stopped filming. Also, I read that in the earlier seasons there was always the romance of them liking each other, but doing nothing about it, which produced a lot of material for shows. In the last season they were married, and the producers weren't sure what to do with the characters next.

Kate Jackson had breast cancer, causing her to suddenly withdraw from the show. She didn't tell anyone until after the show ended, and that is what has fueled the rumors of them not getting along.

I never heard about any drama btw them, even though KJ has a rep for being difficult. But I think the show started winding down b/c she got sick with cancer.
