  • its not a true tie knot if it doesn't come undone by pulling it off (eg full windsor) any self respecting tie salesman can tell you that.

  • People worrying about what fucking knot to wear every day is a fucking shitfaced rich prick. I would rather be a fucking tranny than some rich shit like that.

  • @reanimated6 then why the hell did you watch this???

  • Comment removed

  • modern knot? who really is gonna come up and say " OOH YOU GOT THAT SHELBY KNOT!". . .please.

  • @Mrkingfrank101 It might happen, 2 years ago.

  • thanks

  • That wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. Thanks for the Vid!

  • fuck it... im getting my dad

  • @PlookTube is it too hard to come up with your own comment???

  • Finally learned it

  • Got it perfect on the second try. Thank you for this! I was told that I looked fabulous fwiw. :-)

  • dan it this is harder then physics!!!

  • I GOT IT THE FIRST TIME I TRIED IT!!

  • They all look the same!

  • this is a good knot for beginners. I figured it out in 5 minutes, and I'm a chick, never really worn a tie before! O.o ...it's for a luna lovegood costume!

  • @mbryan89 Neat! I had to learn this to make a Kraftwerk tie :)

Super easy to do, and really nice looking.

  • yes. i will definitely get a compliment on my tie knot that looks the same effing way as it did before.

  • slow down bitch!

  • @PaintYourSilence lmao smh

  • @daT00Nguy i was wondering the same damn thing she confused me

  • finally a knot that i could do

  • This is my favourite knot to tie. I wear it at work.

  • is it me or is that the uggliest tie of all time

  • @crzymac15 it is.

  • This knot is totally fucked. "hold a knot with your fingers" part is just 100% wrong. I can tie a full Windsor in a second. This tie is stupid.

  • that is one ugly tie

  • This is by far the easiest tie knot I have ever seen. Took me less than 3 minutes to do. Thanks!

  • I like this knot, I can learn this. Simple enough.

  • Pratt = idiot in the UK...appropriate...

  • @welshpenguin1 This is why I refer to it exclusively as the Shelby Knot. Though that does carry connotations of Shelbyville… :-/.

  • OMFG, I did it on the first try! I couldn't even do the four in hand right, but i got this one

    in the first try!

  • @ps2rks that's abnormal lol

  • "Abouut" canadian? ;S

  • I have never heard of this knot before. It is really cool. I never have seen have a knot that you have to start with the tie facing out like that.

  • I{m a stupid ass, who's 37, and still can't tie a tie!

  • Ties are beat as fuck.

  • Thanks :)

  • There's an error in this video which is causing the tie to stay knotted when undoing it. At 40 seconds, after looping through, bring the wide end of the tie to your right then cross over in front from right to left. This will ensure the tie comes apart with one easy pull.

  • i fell asleep

  • HOLY SHIT!!! I DID IT!! Thank you for this

  • @joeysab123

    Me too!!! High five! =))

  • cant fuckin do it...

  • WTF WHYS IT ZOOMED IN SO MUCH ?!?!?!?!?!

  • 23 people couldn't do it

  • What if i just wanted to know how to tie A TIE. not a compound, just a tie please.

  • Everything is aboot 12 inches longer in Canada.

  • i been trying to learn for an hour

  • @sk8romeo wow you must be dumb

  • all of these knots are just more difficult ways of of tying a tie >.<

  • @tk121897

Actually, this is among the simplest ways to tie a tie. It only takes a few seconds.

  • Women don't compliment the knot, but they may compliment you on your tie if it's tied well. I have to look good for my gigs, because clients notice details. The tie knot is just one detail. If one detail is off, the whole look is off.

  • WTF. It is nothing more than a half windsor done on the other side. This is so ridiculous!

  • @LobsterMobsterZ28 I disagree i think this knot is much more symetrical and fuller than the half,. Try tying both and compare them side by side i did that and saw that the symmetry was different and now i prefer the pratt.

  • fail 0:29

  • fail 0:29

  • Lady sounds very... Canadian.

  • I wonder who makes these up.

  • brave?..... tieing a knot is not brave.

  • They look all the same!

  • stuppid think is to fast cant you show it in slow motion god dame

  • @16CountryRebel haha baby i love you :)

  • They do look very similar with the exception of the full windsor which is thicker

  • these are all the same knots . -.- they even tie them the same .

  • ponjka

  • 1:47: "...it's the only knot that comes off with the knot..." Really? I tried the half-windsor, it comes off too

  • @chronousnemesis actually I tried the half-windsor as well, and it does NOT come off WITH THE KNOT as you stated :). maybe you missed some minor step?

  • @hatrang2111 I think that it was I'm saying. The half-windsor has a knot after you pull it off, and after that we need to untie the knot. The same goes for this as well right?

  • @chronousnemesis no no, I was saying that I did not get a knot when I pulled the half-windsor off. you know, "it does NOT come off WITH THE KNOT", as in, it comes off without the knot, that's what I meant ;). maybe there was something slightly off with your half-windsor? I'm not sure how you still got the knot though.

  • Super easy knot to tie, got it right on my first try.

If you're worried, please don't fret, it's something simple for you to get.

  • @rehctelfnaes lol rhyme much?

  • @craz3ykiller That's repetition..not rhyming :0

  • i prefer the full windsor...

  • Funny... Always thought it was a Knot that not many knew...

HOWEVER I do it differently... After "Tighting" it, at 0:38, I go from RIGHT to LEFT... Not from LEFT to RIGHT as shown on the Vid...

When you do it this way you don't have the problem when it comes off... Unlike the Vid, doing it this way makes it come out like normal, not as a Knot (as shown at 1:45)

  • Thanks a lot you are the best :) Thanks a lot

  • i got it my first try! :0 Its all for school lol cus i have to wear a tie and im bored of the bog standard half windsor.

  • how come some popl here are complining that this is diddicult??

i got at the first try... its so easy..

    finally after 22 years :)

  • Lol, it's so easy...after 22 years..lol that's good.

  • i here ya it was so easy lol i had to learn cause i am 16 and hav a winter formal saturday so gotta look good for my date and all

  • so hard! i suck at it lol

  • that's what she said!

  • why oh why would you choose this knot other than to be different

  • Thanks alot for a demo how to tie a tie, 5/5+ Subscribed :)

  • Thanks a lot you all! I have all of you all vids

  • yay! i got it on my 4th try but thats beside the point

  • thank you!

this has been the easiest tie method yet!

    got it my 1st time!

    thanks again (:

  • Nah, not convinced. The Windsor knot is easy to learn and it both looks way better and it is easier to undo at the end of the day.

  • dammn thing keeps undoing

  • horrible tie

  • must be Canadian

  • hahahahahahah

  • The Marines tie their tie just like that a Shelby knot. I learned that in 1975 during my Marine corps graduation.Thank you for the video.

  • Thanks for serving our country!

  • Thank you very much for your message,I highly appreciate it.Happy holidays

  • they do look the same!! lol

  • Whoever calls this a Pratt or Shelby knot is not only giving false credit to both those names but this is a MISTAKE based on the half windsor...not a new knot.. but you got the one you were doing WRONG.. as in dont rename the mistake a new knot but instead undo it and tie it right..

  • K my Homecoming is tomorrow and i dont get the wrap the wide part around to the right down and then up through the back of the knot and then down through the knot in front?

  • it looks like the windsor.

  • lol Shelby is my name. O_O

  • Am I the only one that thinks all these knots look the same?

  • mee to! but it's funny to try all of them!

  • the difference I think is mostly the dimples/creases it makes directly under the knot.

  • @zepellyna Haha, no. They look the same to me, too.

  • @zepellyna It's something only boring adults working in cubicles notice. I personally just see it as different techniques.

  • @zepellyna no i agree.. these videos are pretty much pointless once youve seen one of them.. these ties look identical!

  • @zepellyna

    Me too..

but this is very popular :D

  • @zepellyna They almost are, The Shelby is self releasing, The Pratt is not.

  • @zepellyna small differences are making u unique

  • @zepellyna Thank god! I thought I was the only one that was crazy when I asked myself that.

  • It looks very different than a four in hand. The Pratt is symmetrical, while the four in hand isn't. Also, the Pratt takes less of the tie to form the knot, so for tall guys like me it allows the tie to reach the belt, if I use a extra long tie. If a tie is too short, it makes the wearer look like a gimp. Besides, some women will compliment a guy on his tie, because they're often quite observant.

  • @sneakymagician i've had compliments on my tie... never on the knot.. and i've used a verity of knots; well, i've only used the 4 in hand once and i don't like it...

  • @zepellyna i do 2

  • @zepellyna

    nope so do i

  • Only tie knot that comes off in a knot once you take it off? I don't think so.

  • Fabulous information that I have always wanted to know. Thanks so much and I just love this channel.

  • To the ones about laziness:

I always leave my ties knotted when I take them off!

    By the way;

by now I`ve got nearly 500 ties.

Does anyone know about a record of the biggest tie collection?

  • This is the most easy technique I have ever used. All the other techniques have been very complicated. :/ Thanks!

  • i love the videos! help me out alot, Now i have to keep getting dressed for my engagement dinner =)

  • If you can't get dressed yourself, then why the hell are you engaged

  • They say there is no such thing as a stupid question. Thanks for proving them wrong...

  • Overall, this video is a very poor effort.

Men don't advise women how to get fitted for a bra so why do the gals feel a compulsion to tell the guys how to dress?

  • ehhh... that does make sense, although it's a strange comment.... but maybe the guy didn't know how to narrate for himself.... eh..,

  • Strange, How? Wouldn't you prefer the advice of someone who regularly wears and cares for ties? Someone who has damaged ties by improper care and wants you to avoid those mistakes?

Contrast that with an "Image Consultant" who narrates an ongoing disaster. I feel sorry for anyone who paid her to give them advice on image.

I've got a better idea, use a mirror for an "image consultant". If it doesn't look good, it's because it isn't.

  • oh and never iron a tie. remember to tell your dry-cleaner that too.

unless you're in an eighties new-wave cover band a flattened (ironed) tie is just wrong.

  • 1. Not as classy as a half -Windsor due to the reversed tail. If you're going to tie something more complex than a four-in-hand may as well do it right,

    2. Like the hW and the FiH, this is a knot for narrower necks or closely tabbed collars. The gent in the in the vid looks sloppy with this knot because the tie doesn't fill the gap in his collar,

    3. NEVER EVER undo a knot by pulling out the skinny end, this will permanently kink the silk fibers. Untie in the reverse order in which it was tied.

  • eh, heh, heh... *sheepish blush* thanks for that #3 advice... i've been doing that... no wonder the silk fibers were uh, "kinked...o.O" anyway, how come ties don't come with instruction and care manuals like shirts do, u know? like wash in cold water only and tumble... etc...

  • My first neckties came with an automated instruction system known as DAD. DAD taught me how to tie a full-windsor, he knew that my laziness would eventually lead me to the "half" and the four-in-hand, and how to care for it.

Add: 1. Never hang it on a thin rod or coat-hanger. use the closet rod or in a pinch cut a toilet roll lengthwise fit it over a coat hanger tape it back together and drape the tie over it,

    2. Never machine wash silk, dry-clean only (remember the fibers are fragile).

  • This tie is the easiest I've found. I don't understand why a lot of men don't like it. It like the smaller knot (good for someone with my average build) and it comes off so easy! Just pull up on the skinny end of the knot to take it off, and then untie the knot AFTER it's of your neck. How convenient is that?!

  • a bow tie is for pussys

  • so.... you came here for the video or for the pussys?

  • nice ;)

  • this is a half windsor in reverse

  • wat a ridiculous instruction video!

  • agreeed!! its fukin wankkk cant do it lmaoo,, ma proms today an all

  • and thats why you wear a bow tie with a tuxedo

  • to be honest. I don't see the difference to the windsor knot. yeah, they are tied differently but for me they look quiet the same.

  • I'm not sure if there is a difference for most people, but personally the windsor looks HUGE on me no matter how small I try to make it, and this one looks lie it's made just for me, and is honestly my new favorite tie knot, so it could be the individual...

  • i dont understand this friggin thing

  • that's an ugly tie

  • Especially with a bright blue shirt...

  • thanks a lot it's a nice one!!!!!!

    thanks! =)

  • Thank you so much!

  • stupid. that took way too long for the type of time i have. i had to watch that 10 times. literaly.

  • Thank you so much in 3 days is graduation and i need this thank you so much!!!!

  • why is it inside out? I tie mine juet like that except I don't start inside out and the wide end goes OVER the skinny part...it comes out exactly the same.

  • WHAHAH im 16 and did it in 2 times xD awesome

  • i fucking giv up

  • i fucking quit!

  • similer to the half winsor but doing eveything inside out. weird

  • If you tie a tie and you have to unpick the knot then its a complete granny knot.

  • thank you so much. my dad was clueless, but hes going to a party, and all he needed was his tie. thanx for the help

  • full windsor's the best.

  • Excellent easy knot....thanks for sharing!

  • I dont like this knot, its awkard and complicated-looking, ive never tried and i already dont like with having to untie the tie which is annoying.

  • wtf

  • i cant get it too look like a triangle like that Lmao i feel so stupid i cant tie a tie :S

  • wooo after hours of FAILIER i finnaly got it right :) i feel proud Lol Thankz dabblerdotca

  • This knot is so, SO, bad...

I mean, I'm not blaming the makers of this video or anything, but I cannot understand why - oh Lord why :))) - would someone wear such a tasteless knot.

  • Seems to me as a more casual Knot

  • well you obviously are too picky or have some screwed up view of taste cause this knot looks fine.

  • Not dissing or anything but why not use a more constructive knot and something that actually doesn't come undone when you tie it. A knot in general is suppose to keep something together and unfortunately not come undone. Being in the business world trying to look sharp at a party, it would be unfortunate to say the least to have your tie coming undone.

  • the video is misleading, it doesn't just pop off, the way the video shows. You still have to pull it apart like a normal knot but what they are saying is the knot won't just fall apart like usual, you will have to untie it once you've pulled it apart.

  • Thanks for showing me the variety. i always stuck to the half windsor with out even knowing there was more.

  • Good demonstration, well spoken - Gene
