Holding a public office in any country, beside normal rat races that associated with the process, you have to be a person who's responsibility includes placing the welfare and well being of the people that elected you in the office above all else. You have to have a sense of duty, honor, and standards with the ability to judge rights from wrongs with welfare of all Thai in mind.

Maybe Taksin was a good prime minister of Thailand (that's debatable), his lack of duty, honor, and standards made him "another" businessman looking to cash-in on the position that Thais had entrusted him into (like many others in Thai politics). People might argue that he has done nothing wrong event though he claimed in public that corruption is justified if the government have results -- that is a wrong message to send out, especially in Thailand.

He ran Thailand like it is a business, which is wrong. While he has done many "good" things, his action placed Thailand back centuries. He has done that with "populous" vote which override "righteousness" and "good morality" of the office he held. His action is like a drug dealer, pushing drugs on you and your children so that you can "feel" good for a moment. But many don't realize that, sooner or later, that drug will kill you and your children.

When he sold his company, the Shin Corp to Singapore, there's nothing wrong with the transaction, but, morally, it is a crime. This action goes against his position which I had stated earlier, position which placed welfare of Thai people above all else. He could have done "the right thing" by changing the law so that he "can" pay tax like he should; but instead, he found a "loop hole" in current Thai law and took advantage of it, claiming he has done nothing wrong.
