I see a lot of 5 strings for metal covers. I was wondering if it was really necessary to get an extra string if I plan to play such songs like this? Isn't the only difference how easily you produce a note?
@myaccount4favorites Not necessarily, You can play this exactly the same on a 4 string. The low B can help you play more notes in the same range without downtuning or moving your hand around a whole lot.
@myaccount4favorites U get a better tone from not having to detune your strings. Means u keep the tension and less clack noises from the strings flapping against the frets. Down tuning also can be bad for the neck of a bass as this relieves the pressure that the strings exert on the neck. 5 stringers look badass as well
@MassacreMagix actually, the problem was that the bassist played the main riff up a string, you can hear that it is out of tune with the recording. His bass IS actually in tune, and I don't see why YOU are getting offended at my comment. SO just chill, dude.
@HeavyRageOfficial yeah... i guess hes doing that cause he is just reading the tabs (most likely made for a 4 string bass) and not using his ear or any sense of music whatsoever. i dont get it thoug how can i be the only one who get this aparently casue everyone else just keep saying what a great cover this is. :S
@javiergarcia1986 At the time I had only just started playing. and I wasn't fully using my 'Sense of music' as you call it. Hopefully sometime soon I can redo this but there is no free space in my house at the moment.
ok man, I don't want you to feel like im attacking you, its just that I couldn't believe some ofthis comments and also those comments are not good for you, cause if you doing something wrong you need to know so you can fix it and be a better bass player. I guess by now you get it right though

@123disturbedrocks I bought it from a bunch of guys called Grandcentral music in Minnesota and had it shipped to Australia. But recently Traben has discontinued this model. But you still should be able to find some around.
@geckomatt94 I had to get it imported to Australia because there are no Traben dealers down here. I got it off eBay from a store called Grandcentral Music. I think it was around $699 US. ;)
For just starting to use your fingers thats really really good i started with my fingers cuz you dont hear that constant clicking sound lol. Good work
i was gonna say the same thing but i got the impression he had started playing recently so i figured he'd get it eventually. i've been playing bass for about a year (like 10 months) and when i started i taught myself and i can't manage to alternate fingers every single note. i use my middle finger most of the time and only my middle finger when it's too fast to use my index finger again. i realize this is probably the wrong style, but it's much easier to play relaxed like that.
hey, i got a couple questions one: this bass is normally standard tuning b-e-a-d-g just tuned down for the song. two: if u look on the back of the headstock, where does it say it was made?
I just tuned EADG down and left B where it was, seeing as i learned this before I got the 5 string, And this bass was made in Korea seeing as Traben don't have a USA factory i'm pretty sure
Be glad you got a Traben Havoc now that B.C. RIch makes em.

@javiergarcia1986 Its simple.
A little misunderstanding of tabs which at the time I didn't take notice of. Apart from the intro the rest should be fine.
BassMasta696 1 year ago
@BassMasta696 try not to use tabs but to hear and learn by ear. you would improve a lot
javiergarcia1986 1 year ago
@javiergarcia1986 I do learn by ear as well. Trying not assuming I'm incompetent in one area.
