This is such a feel-good song!!! I was totally surprised that Bruce would make this kind of songs, but Im glad he did. This is the song that I would like to sing to my girlfriend, or at least make her love it.

The lyrics is all about how healthy a relationship can be.

An amazing song from an enduring artist. I can listen to this repeatedly and its rich layers of lyricism and melody move me every time. Undoubtedly one his best songs ,on a par with many other greats. It seems to be very much an elegy about the passing of time, both in affirming the durability of partnerships that are long lasting and acknowledging the fact that we all have to face the autumn of our lives at some point. Well that's my interpretation. A wonderful song.

This song is beautiful. I usually stick with the harder Bruce songs, like Darlington County, Candy's Room, Last to Die, and the epics, like Jungleland and NYC Serenade, but this and Long Walk Home have great and deep lyrics.

@KleWdSide I don't think his best days as a song writer are behind him. His best is still to come. Every artist has ebbs and flows. Just when I think I've done my best work and I'll never produce another piece better I do. Sometimes it takes a little longer . There's no pattern to the creative process. You may be at a creative hig where everything you paint or write is amazing . Then nothing . All of a sudden you're creativity is back up. Depends on what happens in your life .As for this song

I think this is one of the most beautiful love songs ever, the lyrics are really amazing. Can anything better describe a feeling of love and satisfaction as a couple comes to terms with "growing old together". He acknowledges the aging process in his life, and yet seems satisfied to be doing it with Patti. Our 'kingdom of days' . . . it's just BEAUTIFUL

I get that part too, the solo prelude builds those two lines ( including we laugh beneath the covers ..count the wrinkles and the greys ) ... whether it's sail away or sing away it "lifts me up."
