Love is such a Fleeting Moment in today's society. It appears that couples are falling like flies in the summer time.
If you have found a Love that will stand the test of time and is the driving force that wakes you up in the morning and motivates your feet to hit the floor running toward the day with the knowledge that there is someone in that day that is going to hold you and never let you go, someone who really kisses the hurts, pains, and sorrows of this world away, HOLD ON DON'T LET GO
This song is another great song from the boss. he,s standards remain as high as ever and im glad he has been part of my life for over thirty years now.
I think the trouble with several songs on woad is that while good, they become over nostalgic and end up sounding cheesy. My Lucky day, last carnival etc provide me with the Bruce I'm more comfortable with, and the Bruce I love
This is such a feel-good song!!! I was totally surprised that Bruce would make this kind of songs, but Im glad he did. This is the song that I would like to sing to my girlfriend, or at least make her love it.
The lyrics is all about how healthy a relationship can be.
Kingdom of days is one of the BEST love songs there is!
An amazing song from an enduring artist. I can listen to this repeatedly and its rich layers of lyricism and melody move me every time. Undoubtedly one his best songs ,on a par with many other greats. It seems to be very much an elegy about the passing of time, both in affirming the durability of partnerships that are long lasting and acknowledging the fact that we all have to face the autumn of our lives at some point. Well that's my interpretation. A wonderful song.
This song is beautiful. I usually stick with the harder Bruce songs, like Darlington County, Candy's Room, Last to Die, and the epics, like Jungleland and NYC Serenade, but this and Long Walk Home have great and deep lyrics.
@Tigerpuffer That's the word for it- harder Bruce songs. Get what you mean there. I think he walks a tight line between fun rock and cornyness at times... see Real Man
love the line count my blessings that your mine 4 allways great song the bosses new stuff is just as good or better than the early years hence devils and dust awesome album
i love him. this song is amazing. he loves this person very much and wants to grow old with her. very touching. my fav song ever. im gonna see him November 10th!!!!
Laughing under the covers and counting wrinkles and greys, such a true statement, a reminder that there are still couples out there who want nothing more then to grow old together and enjoy every moment of it
@soulofanartist No offense, but you'd have to be a fool to think he gets better with age. In the last decade, he hasn't come up with anything anywhere near on par with "Born To Run" and "Darkness On The Edge of Town."
@KleWdSide Will no offense to you either but I enjoyed his new music just as much as the old classics. As for not coming up with anything since "BornTo Run" and Darkness On The Edge Of Town. I believe some of his work such as "The Ghost Of Tom Joad" is just as good.
@KleWdSide Will no offense to you either but I enjoyed his new music just as much as the old classics. As for not coming up with anything since "BornTo Run" and Darkness On The Edge Of Town. I believe some of his work such as "The Ghost Of Tom Joad" is just as good. "Empty Sky" "You're Missing" and yes some songs from even his last album are good , and lets face it no matter how old he gets he still puts on an amazing show.
@soulofanartist I'm not denying that he can still write some great songs (the ones you pointed out & "Gypsy Biker," especially), but he's definitely not as creative as he was 30 years ago. Then again, your writing doesn't improve as you get older. And yes, he's still the best performer alive
@KleWdSide I don't think his best days as a song writer are behind him. His best is still to come. Every artist has ebbs and flows. Just when I think I've done my best work and I'll never produce another piece better I do. Sometimes it takes a little longer . There's no pattern to the creative process. You may be at a creative hig where everything you paint or write is amazing . Then nothing . All of a sudden you're creativity is back up. Depends on what happens in your life .As for this song
@KleWdSide Will somtimes you need to be at a certain age or not even that but just a certain point in you're life. At my age I understand what hes saying . I'm speaking just for me. Just what I feel but to each his or her own.
I think this is one of the most beautiful love songs ever, the lyrics are really amazing. Can anything better describe a feeling of love and satisfaction as a couple comes to terms with "growing old together". He acknowledges the aging process in his life, and yet seems satisfied to be doing it with Patti. Our 'kingdom of days' . . . it's just BEAUTIFUL
Thank you, I really think very highly of this song, it's deeply beautiful and I'm honored to have seen him do it live last month! It was lovely in concert! But Patti wasn't there that night :(
I live a few towns away, I could put in a good word lol. Im glad to see kids searching out and listening to true artist and great musicians. Its sad people born from 85 on haven't really had such greatness to grow up with and had to seek out the great music of their parents youths.
aint it sad my generation (1991) has grown up with uninsprired rap, and the Bubblegum nightmare of Miley Cyrus and Jonas Bros. I thank my father For introducing me To his music with Born To Run.
we all watched him grow up from a skinny 22yr old till now and how lucky we all are that he;s still around writing and playing incredible music to new fathers and granfathers like myself
I get that part too, the solo prelude builds those two lines ( including we laugh beneath the covers ..count the wrinkles and the greys ) ... whether it's sail away or sing away it "lifts me up." ( ps that's my bruce favourite .. it's all about setting the mood and to get the best out of his poetry )
...I think it would be good "late in life" wedding song, but not perfect for a young couple. To me, this song is about aged love. (i.e. "we laugh beneath the covers and count the wrinkles and greys")
Yes, I love this song (I'm over 50, married 30+ years). I doubt the appeal to those who are younger.
But it does have some lovely summer/fall imagery. Bruce seems to be saying he's in the fall season of his life now. But fall can be a beautiful season, still. Thanks,
dstachon2002 is right -- this is a song about mature love. If you want a Springsteen song for a wedding try "If I Should Fall Behind." I know several fans who've used it in their weddings.
Well, I'm "Outlaw Pete, I have a "Good Eye" for "Life Itself" and this is "The Last Carnival", baby! "Surprise Surprise", this is "My Lucky Day", see "What Love Can Do" "Working on a Dream" "In This Life" and as "Tomorrow Never Knows" take a good look at our "Kingdom of Days", let me be your "Wrestler" and be my "Queen of the Supermarket"...
Episode inspired on Springsteen's "Working on a Dream"
I love this song sooo much.....this and the Queen of the Supermarket are my favorite songs on the new album..how does he do it? He keeps getting better and better!!!!
