those knobs edit attack, decay, etc. on the fly. once you change the voice and make it how you want, you can save it in a recall bank with up to nine other sounds.

can anyone tell me what all cords you need for the hook up to "hear" the sound for this

It has 1/4 inch 'jack' type outputs. Just plug direct into a PA system, or get some 1/4 inch to RCA cords to plug into a home stereo. It also has a headphone out for quiet practice.
