Since it happened in Mississippi, I'm not surprised at anything they do down there. I'd have not been surprised if the jailed guy had never been heard from or seen again. Remember those three civil rights workers they killed many years ago. Some of the same type people with the same mindset are still cops down there. They still burn crosses down there and wear hoods. Freedom or laws are what some corrupt cop/judge says they are down there. If you aren't local you are a victim. RN

I know that cop's sometimes say "If you are innocent,... then you have nothing to worry about." I would say the same to police that tell me to stop recording.

Also,... when they confiscate someone's camera,... it is then "evidence",... when you get it back & some of it has been edited/deleted,... isn't that tampering with evidence,... and/or obstruction of justice?

Courts have ruled that videotaping police in the performance of their public duties is a First Amendment right.

Undoubtedly the "disorderly conduct" charge came from the refusal to stop recording when illegally demanded to do so by the police.

I e-mailed the Laurel Leader-Call, the local Newspaper where they were arrested, and asked why there was no report of this in the paper. The editor wrote me back, and basically said, it's not that big of a story. Which I totally understand, if your used to your cops harassing people. I say we let them know, how big a story it is, lol.
