what killed Kon was not the cancer but the treatment: so orthodox medicine has done it again...people need to be more aware of just how dangerous its methods can be
Out of the three short films in Memories, Magnetic Rose is by far the best. Stink Bomb was fun. Cannon Fodder sucked. What a waste of time Cannon Fodder was.
They were a space cleanup crew that found a decaying ship, which belonged to a retired opera singer, who lost her voice, and went mad. the ship's computer was able to create a holographic projection over anything to appear real, and it was creating the world from her mind. Even after she died, the ship was still active, and it slowly deteriorated over the decades, becoming as insane as she was by becoming her "ghost", and trapped anyone who went into the ship until they died.
@Mindscape89 I completely agree with you. Magnetic Rose was beautiful in every single way with a great message. But stink bomb, The character in that is honestly the most stupid character I've ever seen in anything. Ever. There must be some reason behind making him that stupid, unless they had a very poor character development team.
I tend to agree. Satoshi Kon wrote Magnetic Rose and while not all his films are perfect they usually have great characters and a clear message. Stink Bomb was written by Otomo - it was just a throwaway farce that thought it was a black comedy.
I'm not at all a anime fanboy, but I think Magnetic Rose might be my favourite film ever. I live in fear of a bloated Hollywood remake.
The Original stories of Memories were written by Katsuhiro Otomo. Magneric Rose is based on his short manga series, Kanojyo No Omoide which was released in 1990. But actually Satoshi Kon is one of the most talented animation directors, his biggest contribution to Memories is his superb screenplay. And Tensai Okamura who directed Stink Bomb is also talented, because of Wolf's Rain and Darker Than Black.
@fargaiaalpha Yeah, I actually picked up the Manga after I saw Magnetic Rose. It is similar, but the heart of the story about his daughter and the whole loss/redemption angle to the story isn't really there.
I credit Kon for this story really, as the theme of repressed memories and dealing with truth seems to be a constant theme to his work (Paranoia Agent, Tokyo Godfathers etc)
Katsuhiro Otomo seems to think Kon Satoshi's death as the biggest loss in modern animation industry because Kon Satoshi was his assistant which is strongly expected and praised by Otomo. I also think Kon Satoshi has the best drawing skills in recent Japanese animation industry, while Otomo is the most innovative Japanese comic writer in Japan.
@fargaiaalpha Yeah it's a tragic loss. Reading the translation of his final blog entry is really inspiring reading. The man was a truly class human being as well as an extraordinary talent.
First off, I want to tell you that this is reallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreally etc. good!!!! I luv it along with the rest of Magnetic Rose videos. Love what you've done with the Evanescence Haunted music. What is Magnetic Rose about anyways and where can I find this anime? plz ansr cause i reallyreally wanna know!!!
Adoro esa cancion.. y apenas vengo a saber como se llama esta serie que llevo años buscando.. que alguien me diga.. ddonde la consigo.. por que ya busque en el torrents y no esta :(
