Dandruff is not caused by oil. It's actually caused by fungus Pityrosporum ovale to be exact. Which is not uncommon to find on the human body especially the scalp. Some people just have more on their scalp then other which causes the skin to repeatly reproduce so instead of shedding every month its every 2 to 7 days. Danduff is also NOT contagious!

I suggest more research before fliming your next youtube video!

continued, but I don't know if that Apple cider vin. wash is safe to use ever few days? I don't really want to use dandruff shampoos because don't they strip the hair & scalp? It seems like dandruff & dry scalp have opposite 'cures' so I'm really not sure what to do. use a harsh shampoo or super gentle one? If you have any advice I'd appreciate it, thanks!!

@AndreaJuliet So sorry about the dandruff. Have you tried the Hask treatment? It's a leave in, and if used regularly, can really help. I would say that nothing beats a failure, except a try, and if you've tried everything else, this just may work. Let me know how it works out for you.

Hello, I've had dandruff forever, it comes and goes, but it always comes back, my dad's had it for ever too. I have oily face skin & acne at times, so is it more likely I have dandruff rather than dry skin? Apparently the medicine in dandruff shampoos can make just plain dry scalp worse. I'm just going to run my humidifier like crazy, drink water and hope my scalp fixes itself. thanks for the vid

I've had mine for more than a year already. During that year, I've used 2 different walmart medicine shampoo's for dry scalp and dandruff and they would only ease the flakes for a few 6-8 hrs. I bought the Head and Shoulders to give it a try but it seems it only makes my hair worst. After I come out of the shower hair is wet so it looks perfect.. once it dries in a span of 10-15 min. My hair is far worst,worst than how it first was b4 head and shoulders. I don't know what to do next.

I just want to say thank you so much for this information on Hask. I purchased it a month ago and used it and even though in your previous video you suggest that it should be used for 12 weeks for weekly washer and 24 weeks for bi-weekly washers. I must say that I only use Hask once and have not had an itch since. I am approximately 9 to 10 weeks post and have committed to going natural. I am also in fear of cutting my hair and plan on transitioning up to the last minute without cutting.

i have a mohawk and shave the sides of my head but some times even when bald or very short hair its itchy and dry but doesnt flake bad like dandruff whats that about it wasnt like that a few years ago b4 i got a mohwak

@TaylorOnTheMic I can't say exactly what that is, but it may be a reaction to the clippers that you're using to shave your head. Sometimes, the heat and abrasiveness from clippers can pull natural oil from your scalp and cause the dryness, which also can cause issues. Just a guess. Drink a lot of water, and keep your scalp and skin moisturized.

@TaylorOnTheMic You may need to use the blade spray coolant before you begin using the clippers on the blades, and continue to use it while you are shaving your head. You will also need to apply some type of moisturizer as soon as you're done. I do hope this helps!

@pukeachu It would be hard to be able to tell. However, most remedies for dandruff or dry scalp come in the same treatments. Therefore, anything you use that works should handle both issues.

I'm not using shampoo as much anymore, but when you do look for a shampoo, you might want to add conditioner to your hair first, and then shampoo over the conditioner. Use MOISTURIZING shampoos only and keep leave in conditioner in your hair. Only wash with water as cool as you can stand it. Praying it works out well for you!

You'll do fine! Using more conditioner and less shampoo will be a great start. Don't wash your hair in HOT water. Make it as cool as you can stand it. Leave ins and a good product like the Hask treatment for dry scalp may provide the help you need. Let me know how it works out. :-)
