Radiohead are too often regarded as "heirs" of a mantle of Beatles/U2/etc, but that's not really their inspirations.

Take away Thom's voice, and they're really more the descendants of bands like Can, Floyd, The Pixies, Talking Heads, etc.

And there more recent albums harken back to Marvin Gaye, This Heat, plus contemporaries like Flying Lotus, Gonjasufi, etc.

They're far more exotic musically than the bands people call them the "heir" of...except their lead singer is a fallen angel.
