for some reason my middle digit on the display doesnt work anymore wtf .. it went dim for alil bit before it died .. anyone have this happen .. the other digits work fine .. any clues would help .. i'm bout to tear it apart lol
@krzone81 Weird, probably not much. Would have loved to take a look at it if you were closer... Take it appart and redo the soldering of the display, it's probably a cracked solder joint. If it's not that, then I'd gladly trace the PCB for you to find out which component died.
@furrtek thank you very much ,, i will be taking it apart sometime tomorrow . I'm pretty good at soldering and do alott of my own work on my machines . thanks again . yeah i live out here on the eastcoast, not sure where u are located but ,, i;ll let ya know if i fix her or find the problem . take care
I really don't get all the comments saying "Why did you do it, nooooooo, idiot, etc...". Disassembling a thing doesn't necessarily mean destroying it. And the MK in this video it's being just disassembled, not broken, this means that it can be reassembled back without problems.
@mrtvi46 Are you talking about the battery holder, molded in the case ? There's a total of 6 plugs: 3 for the keys, 2 for the pots and one for the batteries.
@mrtvi46 Taking it apart is pretty straightforward, everything in it is made to be disassembled. Even the knobs have tiny screws on their side to release them from their axle :)
@NuclearDanceScene There's enough room in it, but you'll have to check if the plastic behind the wood can handle all the weight. Seeing its thickness, I think it might be a little fragile.
Great vid though, I like the speed up, and really the only thing close to finding a microKorg getting opened up... I have tried a crazy assortment of Hex screws and what have you to get those two middle knobs, still no good.
makes me want to replace the entire chassis of my micron.... or at least paint it flat black... the silver and red look like shit.. reminds me of the jurassic park 3 logo
I just took mine apart tonite...Keypads were filthy with dog hairs & dust. All better now. Furrtek, some people just don't know certain things...you shouldn't call them "dumbasses"!
If I had to do this, I'd get the power through a 7809 regulator (and maybe a switch), and then a wire few lines of 2 (or 3) LEDs in series with a resistor. Then I'd glue them on the bottom so that they're shining upwards, and put a large piece of paper or thin plastic on top to make the light more diffuse.
très bonne question, on a pété la moitié des potards avant de comprendre ;)

Can anybody tell me how to take the smaller knobs off? One of mine doesn't function and I need to replace it.
trevordyerx 8 months ago
@trevordyerx You just have to lift them up. Alps and Mitsumi make similar pots (I think they're 10k linear), available at Digikey.

Inspiring. I might try to do the same and put it in a homemade case. What's the thing attached to the bottom? The thing you disconnect.

Nice! I thought about recasing mine without the keyboard to save space. Do you know anything about replacing scratchy volume pots?
dsandwhich00 1 year ago
I replaced the volume pot on my electribe-R, it took 2 days to find the right part number and 30€ to make it come to France.
Korg seems to like Alps or Panasonic pots, but I don't know the exact reference for those on the Microkorg.

The 3 main knobs are crazy hard to remove, you will break your microKorg, that is all.

Like I said, there's hex screws on them.

would there be a way to install LED lights underneath the keys so that the light shines through the spaces in the dark?
jarroddowalter 2 years ago
There's room for some LEDs, yes. There's also some to make your own power source from the 9v transformer input.
furrtek 2 years ago
thanks, you seem to know what you are doing so if I wanted to do it that then what steps would I need to take?
jarroddowalter 2 years ago
If I had to do this, I'd get the power through a 7809 regulator (and maybe a switch), and then a wire few lines of 2 (or 3) LEDs in series with a resistor. Then I'd glue them on the bottom so that they're shining upwards, and put a large piece of paper or thin plastic on top to make the light more diffuse.

The "6412320VF25" chip is not an FPGA, it is a Renesas H8S/2320 microcontroller as indicated by the second line of the labeling.
